Job Description

The Director of Government will report to the Chief Operating Office (COO) and will provide strategic leadership for Fenstermaker's Government group, overseeing operations, project delivery, financial performance, and team development across Transportation, Utilities, Site/Civil, Government Survey, and Coastal service lines. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence, ensuring exceptional service delivery, and building high-performing teams while partnering with the Chief Engineer, Business Development, Project Managers, and Executive Leadership to support client success and sustainable growth. The Director serves as a key leader in executing the group's strategic objectives. The Director of Government will be a champion and leader of our company's core values while maintaining internal and external customer engagement and satisfaction.

Some responsibilities include:
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Direct day-to-day operations to ensure efficient, consistent, and high-quality service delivery.
  • Partner with other division leaders to plan resources, balance workloads, and meet project priorities.
  • Drive operational excellence through effective staffing, utilization management, process improvement, and performance metrics.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, profitability, and operational performance.
  • Maintain involvement in project management, technical leadership, and client coordination as appropriate.
  • Build and strengthen client relationships while supporting business development and strategic growth initiatives.
  • Promote quality, risk management, and compliance with company standards and best practices.


Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree - preferred
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of demonstrated leadership, operational management, team development, and service delivery experience. A combination of education and experience totaling at least ten (10) years will also be considered.
  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing operations.
  • Demonstrated success in resource planning, financial performance, operational metrics, and continuous process improvement.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
