The Director of Finance and Operations (DF&O) is a full-time member of the Collaborative Staff, working on site at the Collaborative Offices and reporting
directly to the Pastor. The DF&O covers a broad list of responsibilities, including Financial Management, Property Management, and Human Resources. Reporting directly to the Pastor, the Director of Finance and Operations is a professionally qualified team member responsible for ensuring proper stewardship of the parishes' and school's financial, facility, and human resources.
The mission of the DF&O is to provide leadership for a solid financial foundation that supports the mission of the church.
Responsibilities Financial Management
- In consultation with Pastor, develop, implement, and administer local Archdiocesan policies and guidelines (e.g. collections, bill paying, tuition, payroll, banking and cash management, and personnel).
- Prepare budgets, annual reports, interim reports, general ledgers, and other management reports, offering financial strategies and recommendations to the Pastor, Finance Councils, Principal, and School Advisory Board.
- Oversee the management of parish and school operational and financial records and prepare for audits.
- Develop parish and school operating budgets. Monitor the budgets and report regularly to the Pastor and councils re: potential problem areas.
- Encourage, recruit, train, and support with ongoing formation all volunteer catechists, group leaders, assistants.
- Assist the Pastor in the administration of offertory enhancement programs, fundraising for special projects, planned giving, stewardship, and the annual Catholic Appeal.
- Manage all aspects of school tuition and financial aid in FACTS.
Property Management
- Provide financial oversight for large and small construction projects.
- Work with Archdiocese Property Department and ensure compliance with all guidelines.
- Coordinate with Archdiocese Property Department regarding lease agreements.
- Serve as primary contact for St. Paul School building tenant.
- Act as a liaison between Pastor and Archdiocese Property Management and Risk Management Departments.
Human Resources
- Assist Pastor in recruiting and selecting a team that aligns with the needs of the Collaborative.
- Serve as a VIRTUS Facilitator.
- Implement Archdiocesan human resource policies, including onboarding new employees, managing the payroll function, and executing benefits policies.
- Serve as liaison with Archdiocese Human Resources and Payroll and Benefits Department.
- Supervise Business Manager, Collaborative Facilities and Property Manager, IT/Communications Director.
General
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must be a Catholic in good standing
- BA/BS in business, accounting, or related field with 7+ years of experience
- MBA and/or CPA preferred
- 3 - 5 years supervisory/management experience
- Experience handling confidential, sensitive, timely, and critical matters using good judgement, tact, respect, and discretion
- Demonstrated experience in finance, accounting, and tuition management; Intacct and FACTS experience preferred
- Knowledgeable of human resource issues including policies, procedures, recruitment, benefits, and federal and state laws
- Experience administering payroll; Paylocity experience a plus
- Knowledgeable of parish policies and guidelines in relationship to Archdiocesan policies and/or a willingness to learn, and the ability to implement them in a Collaborative environment
- Demonstrated experience in appropriate computer technology skills; must be proficient with word processing and spreadsheet software
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- A strong service orientation and understanding of mission is critical
