About the role:

The Director of Field Operations provides functional operational leadership for Divcon's Field Operations teams, with primary responsibility for the successful execution of new construction data center projects. This role develops and implements short-, medium-, and long-range technical objectives, field standards, training programs, and execution strategies that drive safe, consistent, profitable, and customer-focused project delivery.

Serving as a senior operational and technical leader, the Director partners with Operations, Engineering, and internal leadership to standardize DDC and PLC commissioning practices, strengthen field technical capability, resolve internal and external execution risks, and scale the organization to support major project growth. The position is also accountable for developing field leaders, building operational capacity, improving productivity and utilization, and ensuring quality assurance, customer satisfaction, and world-class installation performance across the field organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Operations, Standards, and Execution

  • Develop, implement, and monitor technical processes, training, and field standards that improve efficiency, profitability, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Provide technical direction and implementation oversight for systems, projects, programs, and field execution practices within the area of expertise.
  • Implement standardized DDC and PLC commissioning execution practices across projects and field teams.

Technical Strategy and Field Innovation

  • Lead comprehensive technical strategies and mentor teams in data center applied equipment integrations, industry technology enhancements, and standardized field implementation.
  • Work with Engineering teams to develop and deploy on-site systems, tools, and resources that support successful project execution and customer satisfaction.
  • Partner with DDC and PLC factory resources to support implementation of developed products and services that drive business growth.

Productivity, Performance, and Operational Scale

  • Drive productivity, efficiency, and utilization across Field Operations Managers, Critical Systems Supervisors, and all levels of Control Technicians.
  • Lead operational reviews and performance management processes across major projects to strengthen execution discipline and accountability.
  • Scale the field business in partnership with the Director of Operations to staff and execute up to $1B in revenue.
  • Customer Support and Quality Assurance
  • Actively support internal and external customers by ensuring problems and issues are handled effectively and in a timely manner.
  • Ensure quality assurance, customer satisfaction, and world-class installation performance across the field organization.
  • Influence and communicate effectively with senior leaders, executives, customers, subcontractors, and cross-functional stakeholders.

Workforce Planning and Talent Development

  • Ensure the organization has the operational capacity and leadership capability required to scale with project demand.
  • Forecast technical staffing needs based on project pipeline, backlog, and field execution requirements.
  • Coordinate with Talent Acquisition and recruiting partners to support hiring strategies for operational and technical roles.

Training, Onboarding, and Leadership Development

  • Support development and implementation of onboarding and training programs for operational and technically focused employees.
  • Mentor and develop operational leaders, including Field Operations Managers and Critical System Supervisors.
  • Identify leadership development opportunities that strengthen operational management capability.
  • Support the VP of Operations in developing leadership training and career progression frameworks across operations.


Qualifications:

  • Technical understanding of building management systems, DDC and PLC platforms, electrical systems, building automation fundamentals, and related hardware, software, and industry protocols.
  • Ability to develop, implement, and monitor technical processes, training programs, field standards, and commissioning execution practices that improve efficiency, profitability, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Strong project execution capability, including the ability to plan and coordinate field activities, manage schedules, support risk mitigation, and resolve challenges during installation, commissioning, and customer coordination.
  • Demonstrated experience establishing creative approaches to issue resolution and influencing individuals, teams, customers, subcontractors, and organizations to implement change.
  • Proven ability to define, implement, and sustain continuous improvement processes that strengthen field execution, operational performance, productivity, utilization, and customer outcomes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, computer proficiency, and the ability to communicate effectively with senior leaders, executives, customers, subcontractors, Engineering, field teams, vendors, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Team leadership capability with the ability to mentor, develop, and support operational or technically focused employees.

Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Construction Management or a minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Experience developing and implementing technical processes, field standards, training programs, and execution practices that improve efficiency, quality, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Experience partnering with Engineering, factory resources, subcontractors, vendors, customers, and cross-functional leadership to support project execution and operational objectives.
  • Experience leading operational reviews, performance management processes, productivity initiatives, and resource planning across major projects or multi-site field operations.
  • Experience forecasting staffing needs, supporting hiring strategies, mentoring operational leaders, and developing onboarding, training, or leadership development programs.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to travel frequently as needed to job sites by plane or car.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout job sites for extended periods
  • Ability to climb ladders, stairs and lifts as required
  • Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, and work in tight or confined spaces
  • Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver equipment and materials up to 50 pounds
  • Manual dexterity to handle tools, wiring, and small components
