POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for the operation, control, engineering, reliability, and technical planning of the electric distribution system, including substations, SCADA, GIS, system modeling, outage analysis, and compliance with engineering standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Manage Substations and Distribution Operations: Oversee substation operation and maintenance as well as direct electric distribution system operations while following established control and safety procedures.
  2. Lead SCADA and System Control Technologies: Manage the SCADA system, including software, hardware, communications, and ongoing development and maintenance.
  3. Oversee Engineering Design and Construction Planning: Supervise the staking/design department to ensure projects meet industry and regulatory standards (RUS and NESC). Ensure required easements, rights-of-way, and access permits are obtained.
  4. Maintain System Mapping and Modeling: Oversee GIS mapping for electric and broadband systems to keep network data accurate and current. Maintain the electric distribution system power-flow model for planning and analysis.
  5. Monitor Reliability and Performance: Track, analyze, and report outage data. Conduct and evaluate power quality studies for both the utility system and customer facilities.
  6. Establish relationships with engineering and operations staff to thoroughly understand the electric system operations, recognize challenges and identify system improvements to maintain reliability.
  7. Provides Direction to technical positions within the engineering department.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  1. A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution or equivalent technical education and experience is required.
  2. 5 years' relevant work experience with electric power systems.
  3. Pursue and obtain a State of Colorado Professional Engineer License.
  4. Strong analytical and written/verbal communication skills.
  5. Possess or be able to obtain a valid Colorado Driver's License.
  6. Ability to operate computers, communication equipment, standard office equipment, and software, including Windows, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

WORKING CONDITIONS
  1. Most activities are performed inside; however, the candidate must also be willing to work outside in all weather conditions, inside electrical substations, and extended hours when required.
  2. Travel outside the system may be required.
  3. Must be able to perform the activities listed in the position description.
  4. Activities are performed while driving, sitting, and walking.
