Position SummaryThe Director of Engineering is responsible for the overall leadership, direction, and management of the Engineering Department and its employees. This position provides oversight of engineering activities, establishes departmental priorities, and ensures engineering resources effectively support customer requirements, project schedules, quality standards, and business objectives.
Primary Responsibilities - Establish and maintain oversight of all engineering design activities and engineering change orders.
- Direct engineering priorities and resources to ensure designs meet customer specifications, project schedules, and budget requirements.
- Coordinate engineering activities with Purchasing and Manufacturing to support effective scheduling and on-time project execution.
- Collaborate with customers, Sales, Manufacturing, and other functional areas to ensure customer requirements are incorporated into design solutions and delivered in accordance with established schedules.
- Lead, mentor, and develop engineering employees to strengthen departmental capabilities and technical skill set.
- Work closely with Manufacturing and Purchasing to support workflow planning and operational efficiency.
- Serve as Disposition Authority for Non-Conforming Products as delegated by the Operations Manager.
Education and Experience- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Ten (10) years of experience in Engineering Design or Checking, preferably within gages, inspection systems, fixtures, and machine design.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- General knowledge of the gaging and automotive industries.
- Strong leadership, organizational, coordination, and analytical skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD and Inventor.
- Knowledge of essential gear terminology, manufacturing, and design principles.
- Understanding of individual contributions to product conformity and product safety.
- Demonstrated commitment to ethical conduct and professional business practices.
