Location

Our West Campus is located at 2400 Gillionville Road, Albany, GA 31707. Our East Campus is located at 504 College Drive, Albany, GA 31705. The Human Resources office for both campuses is located on the West Campus in Building K, Suite 209.

Job Summary

The Director of Emergency Management develops, implements, and maintains campus-wide safety plans, policies, and procedures to mitigate risks and respond to disasters. They lead emergency operations, coordinate training/drills, ensure compliance with safety regulations (like Clery Act/NIMS), and liaise with local public safety agencies.
Sponsorship is not available for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and updates the University Comprehensive Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) and conducts vulnerability assessments.
  • Coordinates campus-wide preparedness activities, training programs for staff, and simulations (e.g., active shooter drills).
  • Directs the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) during crises, coordinates with campus security, and handles post-disaster damage assessments.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations; acts as the primary liaison with fire, police, and emergency management agencies.
  • Manages emergency communication systems and develops educational materials for students/staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in Emergency Management or related field.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in higher education.
  • Certifications such as Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) or FEMA Incident Command System.
