SALMON Home Care seeks an experienced, relationship-driven Director of Business Development to lead growth across our hospice and visiting nurse/home health (VNA) programs. Growing the hospice program is the primary focus of this role, alongside strengthening referral relationships and identifying opportunities for continued VNA growth. The ideal candidate understands the home-based care industry, has a demonstrated record of increasing referrals and admissions, and can translate market knowledge into measurable results. Experience in both hospice and VNA-or within an organization offering both service lines-is strongly preferred. This is a hands-on leadership role combining strategic planning, direct relationship development, and business development team accountability. The Director will partner closely with clinical, intake, and operational leaders to support timely access, appropriate referrals, and growth aligned with the agency's ability to deliver high quality care.
Key Responsibilities are to lead Hospice and VNA growth, build and strengthen business relationships, lead business development performance, and connect growth strategy with service delivery.
Qualifications Required
• Demonstrated success in healthcare business development, referral development, or sales, with meaningful experience in hospice, home health/VNA, or closely related post-acute services.
• A record of producing measurable growth and building lasting referral relationships.
• Strong understanding of the hospice market and the ability to articulate hospice's purpose with sensitivity and credibility.
• Ability to develop strategy, manage priorities, interpret performance data, and personally execute outreach.
• Strong communication, relationship-building, negotiation, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to travel regularly throughout the agency's service area.
Preferred
• Direct experience in both hospice and VNA, or experience working for an organization offering both services.
• Experience leading and developing a healthcare business development team.
• Established relationships within the agency's geographic market.
• Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration, marketing, nursing, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
Compensation
$120,000 annual base salary, plus a graduated quarterly performance incentive of up to $10,000, for a maximum annual cash compensation opportunity of $160,000. Incentives reflect hospice growth, VNA growth, referral relationship development, and leadership performance, subject to the written incentive plan.
