Director of Applications Engineering & Projects
JOB SUMMARY
This position is broadly responsible for projectsmanagement, engineering and installation. The Director plans, directs, manages,and strategically implements application equipment Engineered Solutions todrive new bulk and packaged industrial and specialty gases and chemicals salesgrowth to achieve NSM's market share, revenue, profitability, and qualityobjectives.
Essential Functions
Lead a team of application engineers and field service technicians with direct responsibility for supporting application needs of bulk, packaged, and spec gas business units and NSM's customers
Direct technical aspects of gas application development, application equipment and services technical sales, and application design and engineering, equipment manufacturing, and related services
Direct application equipment manufacturing operations, including budget requirements, finished equipment and parts inventory, and cost controls.
Consolidate product lines and computerize spare parts inventory to improve quoting process for equipment and parts, standardize on parts, reduce parts inventory, and consolidate materials suppliers to improve bargaining power and reduce cost.
Grow in-house equipment engineering and service capabilities to reduce outsourcing and expand range of available equipment and services, including maintenance contracts.
Coordinate with Commercialization, Sales and Marketing teams to promote NSM's application capabilities within NSM and with customers, including developing website technical content, customer presentations, sales brochures, and application training packages
Direct and perform application equipment and associated services product management, collaborate with business teams to ensure competitive and profitable equipment and services pricing, prepare technical equipment sale and lease proposals
Stay informed about trends and innovations in industrial gases industry and industries we serve, define and lead innovation and new application and product development, actively participate in and support NSHD R&D and new application and technology development effort.
Recruit, coach, mentor, train, manage, and evaluate staff performance

QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Bachelor's Degree is required, Mechanical, Chemical or otherEngineering is preferred.
Masters Degree, MBA or Engineering Management is preferred.
Work Experience
10+ years Experience in the industrial gases industrypreferred, engineering or highly technical project management experiencerequired
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
The individual must be an experienced engineer and project manager
Excellent technical writing, and communication skills
Strong knowledge of gas industry and customers

Pay Range: $160,000 to $180,000
