COMPENSATION

$149,350.00 - $190,550.00 annual salary + a generous benefits package to include medical, dental, vision and 10% employer paid 401A through VOYA Financial.

*Hiring Salary Range: $149,350.00- $169,950.00 annual salary

(starting salary will be within this range based upon qualifications)

SUMMARY

An employee of this class is responsible for directing the strategic and tactical efforts to increase air service development across both passenger and cargo airlines at Ontario International Airport (ONT). Incumbents in this classification report directly to the SVP of Communications and Marketing. The Director of Air Service Development will be the primary internal resource for developing air service at ONT and will oversee and coordinate professional services and facilitate contact with existing and potential air domestic and international carriers.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Important and essential duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Cultivates and maintains engaged relationships with airline and industry partners.
  • Create and maintain relationships with incumbent airlines; participate in frequent airline meetings, events, conferences, on-site tours, and events which include both international and domestic travel.
  • Attracts airlines to increase domestic and international air service for both passenger and cargo.
  • Directs and implements the Air Carrier Incentive Program (ACIP).
  • Collaborates closely with key internal departments to accommodate all contractual, facility, telecommunications, and other needs with new entrant airlines.
  • Prepares passenger and cargo data and analysis and reports on status and results.
  • Organize and prepare monthly aviation development reports for both internal and external users and respond to internal aviation data requests.
  • Reports both ONT and global traffic and aviation trends on a regular basis.
  • Leads and directs all logistical and analytical elements of major industry aviation trade events.
  • Directs and oversees contract aviation consulting firms and authorizes expenditures.
  • Coordinates the Board approval process for Air Service Development policy changes and contracts for services.
  • Prepares, monitors and reports on departmental budget and makes recommendations to senior management.
  • Leads the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and priorities for air service development activities and operations.
  • Work with other managers and staff to evaluate and implement goals, policies and procedures of the division; work closely with other divisions and departments to coordinate incumbent and potential air carriers.
  • Leads and directs the activities of assigned staff; reviews work plans; meets with staff to identify and resolve problems; assigns work activities and projects; monitors workflow; evaluates employee performance and work products.
  • Work closely with airlines on international marketing initiatives and assist in managing relationships with Destination Marketing Organization partners and international agencies to create impactful and measurable campaigns.
  • Does related work as required.
  • May occasionally be assigned to other duties for training purposes, technological changes or deficiencies or for emergency response.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of education, training, and experience that would likely provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform in the position.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Business, Marketing, Market Research, or a related field.
  • Ten (10) years of demonstrated experience in work directly associated with air service development, as an airline or airport consultant, or similar experience in the Aviation industry and at least three (3) years in a supervisory capacity. International experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging technologies related to the position such as Diio, Placer.ai, etc.


LICENSES / CERTIFICATION
  • Valid Driver's License equivalent to a California Class C driver's license
  • Acceptable driving record at time of appointment and throughout employment
  • Ability to pass all background / reference checks, knowledge examinations, as well as aptitude tests necessary to obtain an OIAA employee badge at ONT

  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines


This is an at-will, exempt position. Only a valid and properly executed employment agreement may alter status as an at-will employee. Verbal contracts are not valid. The employment relationship may be terminated at the will of either party upon notice to the other. As an at-will employee, there would not be an established property interest in continued employment with OIAA.

Lists typically last for 6 months but may be extended or abolished based upon the needs of the Ontario International Airport Authority (OIAA).
