Description

The University of Chicago's Department of Medicine, Section of Cardiology, is searching for a full-time Associate Professor or Professor to serve as the Director of Adult Cardiac Imaging. The appointee will join and lead an established group of nationally and internationally renowned physicians, researchers, and educators in the field of cardiac imaging. In conjunction with other leaders in the Section of Cardiology and the Heart and Vascular Center, the Director is expected to expand clinical research and to develop strategies for increasing patient referrals and procedure volumes. The Director will provide administrative functions necessary for the efficient and fiscally responsible management of the program. The appointee will also coordinate the strategic direction, operational efficiency, and clinical quality of the program, which includes the delivery of exceptional patient care, optimizing imaging resource utilization, and driving innovation in cardiac imaging technology. Academic rank and compensation are dependent on qualifications. This position is benefits eligible.

The Cardiac Imaging Laboratory at the University of Chicago has a long-standing tradition of excellence in a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including transthoracic and transesophageal imaging, as well as guidance of structural heart disease repair.

Clinical responsibilities include review and interpretation of cardiac CT/MRI/ECHO (multimodality) images, outpatient cardiology clinic, inpatient services and consults, as well as supervising activities of satellite locations. Other duties will include teaching and supervision of fellows and students, as well as scholarly activities.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate (MD) or equivalent degree, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, 3) be board certified in internal medicine and in cardiovascular disease, and 4) have experience and understanding of other cardiac imaging modalities, namely Echo, MRI, CT, and PET.
