Position Summary & Essential Duties Summary:This position reports to the Associate Vice President, Finance, and is responsible for the overall management and integrity of the College's financial accounting and reporting systems. This role oversees the general ledger functions, financial statement preparation, internal controls, budget development, and compliance with federal, state and institutional regulations.. The Director provides strategic leadership and coordination in fiscal operations and ensures timely and accurate financial reporting.

Job Duties and Responsibilities - Prepares and reviews financial reports for internal and external use, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
- Oversees general accounting functions like the chart of accounts, general ledger, and budget for the College.
- Responsible for the analysis, preparation and projections of the annual budget process.
- Prepares and reviews institutional financial statements, including the Statement of Net Assets, Statement of Revenues, Expenses, and Changes in Net Assets, and Statement of Cash Flows, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations and college policies.
- Coordinates the preparation of audit reports, including supporting documentation and disclosures, and ensure timely submission to external auditors and regulatory agencies.
- Creates and maintains reports via the Ellucian Colleague Report Writer system.
- Oversees the development and implementation of internal controls to safeguard the Colleges assets and ensure the reliability of financial information. This includes procedures for transaction authorization, segregation of duties, and regular reconciliation of accounts.
- Provide budget development support and training to departments, including grant compliance and reporting.
- Identifies opportunities to streamline accounting processes, implement new technologies, and enhance efficiency.
- Performs review, analysis, and preparation of month end and year-end entries.
- Manages implementation and oversight of the records management and retention procedures for the accounting records.
- Coordinates across departments to ensure consistent financial reporting and compliance with federal, state, and college fiscal policies.
- Prepares time-sensitive reports for external agencies requiring complex calculations and data compilation from multiple sources.
- Working with other departments and administrators to ensure alignment of financial activities with institutional goals.
- Oversees the maintenance and reporting of unclaimed property.
- Responsible the bank reconciliation process.
- Manages the physical inventory of capitalized assets, including the capitalization and depreciation process.
- Supervises personnel, including work allocation, training, performance evaluation, and enforcement of internal controls and procedures.
- Assumes additional responsibilities as needed to support the department's goals and college operations.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities & Physical Demands Knowledge:- Knowledge of accounting principles and practices of generally accepted accounting and budgeting procedures and pertinent Federal, State, Community College laws, codes and regulations related to budgeting and accounting.
- Knowledge of operational characteristics, services, and activities of the College.
- Knowledge of a range of automated financial systems and application software.
- Knowledge of software to quantify and illustrate complex financial reports, comparison, impacts, and/or projections
- Knowledge of computerized information systems used in financial and/or accounting applications.
- Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, fixed assets, capital projects, bond and cash management.
- Knowledge of college and/or public auditing policies, standards, and procedures.
Skills:- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a multi-person environment.
- Database management skills.
- Advance knowledge of public sector financial, accounting, and budgeting principles and procedures.
- Ability to plan, implement, and administer financial information and control systems.
- Must be proficient in the usage of accounting spreadsheets.

PHYSICAL EFFORT:Light physical activity is required with occasional lifting of objects up to 15 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS:Work is normally performed in an office setting. Duties will require travel in personal or school owned vehicles
