Finance - Director of Accounting & Finance

100% Onsite - Location: Los Angeles, CA 90056

What We're Looking For:

We are seeking a Director of Accounting and Finance who is responsible for budgeting and reporting financial reporting, developing and maintaining accounting practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with regulatory requirements for funders and nonprofit organizations. The Director of Accounting and Finance is responsible for general ledger management, monthly year-end, and grant year closings, accounts payable, funder's reports and audit preparation. The Director of Accounting and Finance will supervise fiscal management staff to ensure work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position addresses tight deadlines and will have contact with senior-level managers, the C-Suite, and funders, which requires strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal. The ideal candidate will directly oversee and manage the corporate budget, managing the Agency's audit process, financial statement preparations and maintain strong relationships with funders. The ideal candidate should also have the following qualifications and experience:
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES YOU SHOULD POSSESS:
    • B.A. or B.S. degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA or Masters Degree in Accounting or Finance.
    • Five or more years of accounting experience. Three or more years of management or supervisory experience. Minimum of two years of recent experience in a non-profit agency, preferably in a Controller or similarly situated position.
    • Must have thorough knowledge and experience implementing GAAP and strong internal controls; knowledge of non-profit government funded accounting and Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards.
    • Experience with accounting software programs and Microsoft Office is required. Knowledge of fund accounting systems, a plus. Familiarity with relational database structures, and use of complex accounting data in a business environment.
    • Excellent analytical ability and process development skills.
    • Must have strong multi-tasking and organizational skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Requires excellent customer relations skills and be able to communicate effectively with all levels of management and technical professionals.
