  • Develop and present training content for Tax Compliance Professionals
  • Maintain an updated internal database of technical tax matters
  • Manage professional and administrative support staff
  • Review tax compliance tools for technical accuracy and relevance
  • Serve as a principal information resource for new tax developments
  • Assist with the preparation of presentation materials for external events or conferences

Your Opportunity

Our National Tax Practice is looking for a Director to join their team. The successful candidate will own the following responsibilities:

  • Keeping current on Canadian income tax developments that primarily affect Domestic tax clients

  • Communicating these developments to the Tax Service Line and Tax Compliance Professionals, and externally

  • Primarily responsible ensuring there are tax-centred, client focused articles on bdo.ca

  • Regular external communication to clients/potential clients/about income tax developments

  • Weekly internal communication to both Tax Professionals and Tax Compliance Professionals

  • Organizing and facilitating monthly webinars for the Tax Service Line

  • Developing content for and presenting to Tax Compliance Professionals

  • Keeping database of technical matters current - internal

  • Managing both professional and administrative staff in support positions

  • Reviewing tools used in Tax Compliance for technical accuracy and for relevant content

  • Serving as a firm reference for information on new tax developments

  • Ad hoc work includes serving as a firm reference for information on new tax developments, reviewing presentation material for external presentations or conferences, assisting with development of tax compliance tools

Your experience and education

  • 10 years of experience working in Canadian Income Tax in public practice as a CPA or as a barrister or solicitor

  • Completion of the In-Depth Tax Course, a Masters of Tax or an LLB

  • Proven excellence in written communication of technical subject matter

  • Ability to read and interpret income tax legislation

  • Ability to prepare summaries of relevant income tax developments for different audiences – i.e tax professionals, tax compliance professionals and client audience

  • Excellent oral communication skills

  • Attention to detail to ensure that the meaning of the legislation is properly reflected in communications

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Ability to be flexible to meet the demands of the role
