Job Summary
The Director - Environmental,Health, Safety & Security provides strategic leadership for EHS&Sacross L'Oréal's Franklin manufacturing operation, reporting directly to thePlant Manager. The role establishes site priorities, advises operationalleadership on significant risks and drives accountability for the protection ofpeople, the environment, facilities and company assets.
Franklin operates 24/7across approximately 310,000 ft² and produces ~ 240 million units (budget 2026).The site population comprises approximately 580 people: 318 employees, 86temporary workers, and 176 contractors. This operating model requiresconsistent standards, effective contractor governance and reliable preventionand response capabilities across all shifts.
The role brings togetheroccupational health and safety, environmental performance, physical security,and emergency preparedness. Its industrial risk scope includes a portfolio of160 flammable SKUs. Upcoming Water Neutrality projects add a significantenvironmental transformation dimension, requiring close coordination withEngineering and Operations on environmental objectives, project risks andperformance outcomes.
The Director translatescorporate expectations and site risks into a coordinated EHS&S roadmap. Theposition provides independent professional judgment, challenges decisions wheresignificant risks remain unresolved and escalates material issues through siteand North America leadership. It directs EHS&S activities and buildscapability across functions so that operational leaders consistently fulfilltheir responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership, Governance, &Culture
• Establishthe site EHS&S strategy, priorities and improvement roadmap in alignmentwith L'Oréal requirements and the needs of the Franklin operation.
• Driveinterdependent safety culture for the site, with fellow Leadcom members, throughdirect engagement & enablement of middle managers and frontline employees:including 3rd shift, weekend day shift, and weekend night shift.
• Advisethe Plant Manager and site leadership on risk exposure, compliance priorities,environmental performance, security and the resources needed to sustaineffective controls.
• Leadmanagement reviews, assign improvement priorities with accountable operationalowners and escalate significant risks and overdue critical actions.
Key Responsibilities Continued
Industrial Risk and Flammable Products
• Leadsystematic identification, assessment and prioritization of EHS risks acrossproduction, maintenance, logistics and contractor activities, including LIFErisk prevention.
• Overseethe assessment and control of risks associated with the site's flammable SKUs,working with Engineering and Operations to address the activities, quantitiesand conditions involved.
• Ensurerisk assessments guide appropriate engineering and organizational controls,fire prevention and protection, safe handling and storage, and emergencypreparedness.
• IntegrateEHS risk reviews into new products, equipment and process changes, and ensuresignificant incidents generate effective corrective actions and organizationallearning.
Occupational Health and Safety
• Governcritical safety programs covering hazardous energy control, confined spaces,machine guarding, powered industrial trucks, chemical hazards, respiratoryprotection and ergonomics.
• Ensurejob risk assessments and occupational exposure evaluations inform preventionmeasures, training priorities and appropriate health protection programs.
• Driveconsistent application and verification of controls across all shifts, withclear ownership by operating departments.
• Overseeincident investigation, trend analysis and corrective action effectiveness,partnering with Human Resources on relevant occupational health and workers'compensation matters.
Contractor and Temporary WorkforceGovernance
• Establishconsistent EHS&S expectations for the site's employees, temporary workforceand contractors, including induction, competence, supervision and accessrequirements.
• Ensurecontract givers and operating leaders manage contractor selection, workpreparation, permits and coordination of simultaneous activities.
• Reviewcontractor and temporary workforce performance, address recurring gaps withresponsible managers and service providers, and verify corrective actioneffectiveness.
Site Security and Asset Protection
• Leadthe physical security strategy for Franklin, protecting employees, temporaryworkers, contractors, visitors, facilities and company assets.
• Overseesecurity risk assessments, access control, visitor management and securityincident response in coordination with relevant internal stakeholders andservice providers.
• Establishsecurity performance expectations and integrate security arrangements withemergency preparedness and operational continuity planning.

Environmental Performance and Water LoopTransformation
• Leadthe site's environmental improvement agenda in alignment with L'Oréal for theFuture, translating water, energy, waste and other relevant environmentalobjectives into operational priorities.
• ProvideEHS and environmental leadership for upcoming Water Neutrality projects,partnering with Engineering and Operations to define performance objectives andassess environmental and operational risks.
• Ensureproject requirements address applicable environmental obligations, safeinstallation and commissioning, operating procedures, training and performancemonitoring.
• Trackenvironmental results, investigate material deviations and drive correctiveactions with the functions responsible for project delivery and ongoingoperation.
Investment Planning and Change Management
• Developand prioritize EHS&S investment needs within the site's multi-year planningprocess, presenting risk, compliance and environmental considerations to siteleadership.
• Partnerwith Engineering and Finance on investment proposals and resource requirements,and track delivery of agreed EHS&S actions and benefits.
• EmbedEHS&S requirements in project design, equipment changes and operationalhandover, ensuring unresolved risks are visible to decision makers.
Compliance and Performance Assurance
• Overseecompliance with applicable health, safety, environmental and securityrequirements and corporate standards, ensuring clear responsibilities andeffective assurance processes.
• Maintainthe systems supporting OSHA's Voluntary Protection Program and coordinateassociated assessments and corrective actions.
• Ensurereliable incident records, required reporting, performance data and auditfollow-up, including oversight of OSHA recordkeeping.
• Representthe site in relevant corporate reviews, audits and external interactions,coordinating technical support and escalation when needed.
Emergency Preparedness and OrganizationalLeadership
• LeadEHS&S emergency preparedness for a 24/7 operation, including definedresponse roles, trained personnel, drills and coordination with externalresponders.
• Overseethe medical response team's readiness and the availability of appropriate firstaid and CPR training, and support EHS&S aspects of business continuityplanning.
• Directand develop the EHS&S team and supporting resources, clarifyingresponsibilities, coaching individuals and identifying capability andsuccession needs.
• Buildoperational leadership ownership through safety committees, visible leadership,workforce participation and training programs whose effectiveness is assessed.
Key Qualifications and Skills
• Education: Bachelor'sdegree in Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or a related fieldpreferred; an alternative bachelor's degree supported by relevant professionalcertification may be considered.
• Experience: Substantialprogressive EHS leadership experience in manufacturing, with demonstratedresponsibility for complex operational risks, organizational change andinfluence on senior site leadership.
• Professional certification: CSPor an equivalent relevant professional certification preferred.
• Industrial risk expertise: Demonstratedexperience with flammable products or comparable industrial hazards, criticalsafety programs, contractor risk and emergency preparedness.
• Compliance and assurance: Strongworking knowledge of applicable OSHA and environmental requirements, corporateassurance processes and OSHA's Voluntary Protection Program.
• Environmental transformation: Experiencetranslating environmental objectives into operational improvement and capitalproject requirements. Experience with water efficiency, reuse or Water Loopprojects is an advantage.
• Security: Experienceoverseeing or coordinating physical security, asset protection and securityservice providers in an industrial setting.
• Business judgment: Abilityto assess risk, prioritize resources, contribute to investment decisions andexplain operational and business implications to senior leaders.
• Leadership: Abilityto develop teams, engage a diverse workforce and establish consistentexpectations across multiple functions, shifts and employment arrangements.
• Communication and analysis: Stronganalytical, written and verbal communication skills, including clear managementreporting, constructive challenge and effective interaction with employees,contractors and external stakeholders.
Working Conditions
This role requiresregular on-site presence and flexibility to support a 24/7 manufacturingoperation, including presence across shifts and occasional weekends.Availability to support emergency response outside normal working hours isrequired.

• Base Salary Range: $126,900 - $184,000 (Theactual compensation will depend on a variety of job-related factors which mayinclude geographic location, work experience, education, and skill level)
