Position: Director of Major Gifts

Department: Development Services

Work Location: Corpus Christi or Laredo, TX

At Driscoll Children’s Hospital, philanthropy changes lives. From advancing pediatric programs and expanding services to supporting children and families during their most difficult moments, generous donors play a vital role in our mission.

We are seeking a strategic, relationship-driven, and highly motivated Director ofMajor Gifts to lead efforts to secure and steward transformational philanthropic investments in support of Driscoll Children’s Hospital.

Reporting to the Vice President of Development, Director of Major Gifts will manage a portfolio of major donors and prospects while developing long-term fundraising strategies that advance the hospital’s most important priorities.

Responsibilities:

As the Director of Major Gifts, you will cultivate meaningful relationships with donors, prospects, community leaders, and key stakeholders capable of making significant financial contributions to the hospital. Responsibilities include:

  • Managing a portfolio of 80–100 qualified major gift prospects and donors
  • Identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gifts, with a focus on gifts of $100,000 or greater
  • Building and maintaining long-term relationships with major donors, prospective donors, community leaders, and key stakeholders
  • Developing and executing fundraising strategies that support hospital priorities, including endowments, capital projects, programmatic initiatives, and other key funding opportunities
  • Partnering with the Prospect Research Specialist to identify, evaluate, and qualify prospective major donors
  • Engaging physicians, hospital leadership, volunteers, and Development staff in donor cultivation and solicitation strategies
  • Leading donor engagement opportunities that educate hospital constituents about philanthropy and strengthen long-term relationships
  • Implementing industry best practices and performance measures across major gift programs and activities
  • Monitoring progress toward fundraising goals and key performance indicators and adjusting strategies as needed
  • Collaborating with Marketing and Community Relations to develop consistent fundraising materials, mailings, emails, and electronic outreach
  • Supporting Development Services in maintaining accurate donor records and database information
  • Preparing fundraising reports, donor records, and other information as requested
  • Maintaining the highest level of professionalism, confidentiality, and integrity in all donor interactions
  • Managing multiple projects and competing priorities with strong organization and attention to detail
  • Providing leadership, goal setting, developmental feedback, performance management, and support to assigned staff
  • Occasionally traveling and working evenings or weekends to support donor meetings, community events, and fundraising activities

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of five years of professional fundraising experience
  • Documented track record of securing multiple five-, six-, and seven-figure gifts and pledges
  • Experience in managing fundraising performance metrics;
  • Knowledge of donor stewardship;
  • Experience utilizing donor databases.
  • Active and unrestricted Texas driver’s license and current vehicle insurance for the duration of employment
