Full Job Description
Specific Responsibilities Would Include Position Description and Requirements: Centric Brands has an opportunity for an experienced Logistics/Carrier Operations Director who will be a key Leader/Owner and influencer within our Global Supply Chain.  This position will report directly to the VP, Logistics.  The Director will lead the team’s accountability for all international carrier (ocean/air/parcel) operations globally for our Fashion Apparel & Accessories business. This is a critical position that will involve strategic planning of our international transportation network, operational execution of all shipments to delivery, negotiation of contracts with carriers and 3pl/4pl providers and development of team members.  This role will also lead the audit/payment of our shipments globally and the 3rd party operators. An ideal candidate will be innovative, highly influential, will drive result-oriented solutions, and able to steer through ambiguity while providing balanced decision-making while assessing tradeoffs. They are passionate about solving complex problems and developing team members in a high-volume and growth environment, with a mindset for building durable solutions to complex problems at scale, approaching their work with determination, understanding potential impacts with give/take both internally and externally. They will have spent considerable time in logistics management of carriers, people, problems, processes, visibility platforms, and consolidators. Candidates will be able to demonstrate excellence, possess the ability to learn quickly and strive for perfection within a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities: Strategic • Develop and implement short/long-term logistics/carrier/operation strategies to support the growth of the organization in a cost-effective manner while improving service and reliability  • Work collaboratively across internal divisions to understand key areas of growth and shifts with sourcing/customers, container utilization, shipment consolidations and alternative routings to ensure logistics strategy is in alignment needs • Negotiate ocean/air/parcel contracts, rates, capacity leveraging relationships to support seasonality shipping requirements by Division and origin • Support our Asia Operations/Allocation/Booking teams with carrier oversight/improvements • Direct the relationship with our 3rd party freight auditor, ensuring timely, accurate payment at above average standards/operations at a competitive rate • Propose/create/develop/execute transportation allocation, capacity and transit strategies developing contingency plans to cost-effectively support varying levels of company sales and changes to supply/demand patterns as well as market volatility • Identify, develop, implement, and enhance shipping visibility tools/reports/dashboards and milestone timeliness/completeness to proactively manage and improve the logistics network • Direct/support the development of staff and team members to ensure continued growth in position within Centric Brands Logistics department. • Once on-board original port of load through transshipment ports ensuring timely movement through to destination port, including facilitating faster service/support. • Oversee the continued movement of freight (origin/transshipments) while providing complete, timely and accurate data for our quoted, booked, in-transit and delivered shipments for the business and our internal customers weekly/monthly/quarterly including fiscal accruals and payment information for ocean/air/parcel shipments globally Team Management • Develop an action-based and customer service-oriented team through coaching, directing, illustrating through action etc cultivating a culture of exceeding expectations, continuous improvement, and proactive problem-solving improving KPI’s, processes and costs • Develop robust, trusting relationships and positive experiences with and for the team, our internal customers and partners (team/carrier) on all logistic items, capabilities, and service standards • Lead team of 4+ direct reports and supporting staff located across the globe Day to Day Operations • Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with effective communication and thorough follow through • Create/develop/execute transportation allocation, capacity strategies developing contingency plans to cost-effectively support varying levels of company sales and changes to supply/demand patterns as well as market volatility • Facilitate complete/accurate visibility with where our freight is at any given time, keeping our freight moving, for example pulling in transshipments with improved sailing options, leveraging relationships and opportunities with actual shipping options (not asking for what is available with approx. volumes of 13K containers • Proactively prevent issues from occurring/reoccurring, being active in solving issues before internal customers identity bringing solutions and answers • Develop the team and utilize key performance indicators (KPIs), metrics and reporting to help drive execution, understand drivers, accountability and process uniformity and compliance across all divisions, regions, with all transportation providers and vendors • Owns the transit time performance, models, and updates to ensure we have the most accurate data and best performance available • Lead weekly Carrier calls reviewing items including performance, open items, delayed shipments, pending bookings, mqc performance with future forecasts while ensuring all milestones are accurate and provided timely • Participate in off hour origin, forwarder and vendor calls when needed • Standardize, document, and improve logistics processes, standard operating procedures, and playbooks, ensuring implementation of best practices across the department • Other items as needed by leadership including but not limited to various ad hoc analysis Our Best Fit Candidate Would Have • 12+ years of international transportation experience in a fast-paced environment with at least 7 years in a leadership role for an importer (US and/or Global) or 3rd Party Logistics Provider (apparel experience is a plus) • BS/BA degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business Management preferred or equivalent • Able to hit the ground running – a confident, entrepreneurial self-starter with the ability to manage and prioritize projects to delegate tasks appropriately • High analytical ability and drive (analysis and visualization) to gather and interpret data at a granular level to further develop, recommend and implement solutions while communicating at many different levels of an organization, clear, concise messaging/presentation experience is a must have. • Strong background developing/leading service providers operationally and negotiation of costs, with high levels of experience building up KPI’s, auditing performance/cost, processes (SOP’s SOW’s), holding service providers accountable to business needs and KPI’s. • Proven ability as a passionate people-centric leader with exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build a culture of Continuous Improvement for processes and operations management ensuring we lead, motivate, drive performance and accountability • Ability to work collaboratively across functions ideally multidivisional operations and synthesize multiple points of view into a streamlined action plan with quantifiable results showcasing improvements across processes, operations and spend categories • Proven track record for anticipating issues and having implemented processes/standards to address items before they occur and ability to adjust on the move. • Project management experience with lean or six sigma experience highly valued, including process mapping and process re-design • High level expertise/experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PPT, Word), data visualization tools/dashboard development (e.g., Power BI, etc.) • Knowledge of SAP systems helpful • With some domestic/international travel (up to 10%) In return, we provide an industry-competitive salary, along
