Job Summary and QualificationsThe Director - Infection Prevention & Control has a pivotal role in the co-ordination and management of activities and resources of inpatient and outpatient areas for infection prevention and will work as a key member of the management team and will assume 24 hour accountability for overall management and delivery of Infection Prevention & Control. The Director is accountable to the Assistant Vice President of Quality Services and Chief Nursing Officer ensuring that the standards for infection prevention and control practice are compliant. She/he is responsible for the development and implementation of policies and procedures that ensure rigorous infection prevention and control standards within the Hospital, in compliance with state, federal and other regulatory agencies requirements, and the Hospital's standard of care, mission, and goals. Population of patients served: neonate to geriatric.
What you will do in the role:- Provides advanced professional and clinical leadership direction on all infection control across the organization. Serves as a change agent as necessary and identifies and achieves cost-containment goals within assigned area of responsibility
- Responsible for coordinating the infection control program which includes surveillance; analysis of data; developing reports, policies and procedures.
- Builds trusting, collaborative relationships with staff, peers, other disciplines, ancillary services, physicians, vendors and community leaders to achieve clinical, financial and quality objectives across departments.
- Participates through team working and collaborative partnerships in identifying and implementing solutions through evidence based practice or research to ensure continuous quality improvement.
- Use of epidemiological principles and statistical methods to design, implement and evaluate infection prevention and control strategies E6 Determines infection prevention control quality improvement goals and objectives. Evaluates utilization of resources and redirects based on achievement or need.
- Develops key performance indicators for department. Holds self and others accountable for actions and outcomes. Leads and coordinates collaborative multi - disciplinary partnerships working towards the achievements of constant improvement in infection prevention.
- Acts as an advocate for patients and staff and addresses any issues that negatively impact patient care outcomes. Manages untoward incidents / complaints by effective and timely investigation ensuring lessons learnt are effectively communicated
- Collaborates with ancillary support services in adherence to standards for a safe, clean and secure environment for patients, staff and visitors
- Provides consultation and education to staff, physicians and community leaders in respect to Infection Prevention & Control.
- Monitors staff satisfaction and collaboratively develops strategies to address any issues
- Treats all colleagues, patients and visitors with dignity and respect
- Assures compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards
What qualifications you will need:- (CIC) Certified in Infection Control
- (RN) Registered Nurse license required
- Bachelors Degree required in Nursing, Public Health or Epidemiology
- 5+ years of Infection Prevention & Control in an acute care setting, 1+ year previous management experience
