Director, Industry Strategy & Engagement (remote). This role leads PIC's strategic engagement with pork chain stakeholders to support the successful commercialization of new technologies, with a focus on EverThrive® PRP. This role develops trusted relationships with key decision-makers across the global pork and food value chain, helping shape industry understanding of PIC's science, stewardship, commercialization approach, and long-term vision for innovation.
The Director, Industry Strategy & Engagement works across industry organizations, customers, value chain partners, and other influential stakeholders. This role gathers market intelligence, identifies emerging opportunities and risks and coordinates engagement activities that support PIC's commercialization, communications, and business objectives.
The successful candidate can work in a culturally diverse, fast-paced environment and establish priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy. The candidate can work autonomously as well as collaboratively across functional teams, demonstrating strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Success is measured by stronger strategic relationships, actionable stakeholder insights, increased confidence in PIC's innovations, and meaningful contributions to commercialization and long-term market acceptance.
This position is based remotely in the United States, with travel approximately 50% domestically and internationally.
The salary range for this position is $158,500 - $195,000 USD annually. The salary provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Genus considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
You Will- Develop and execute a global industry engagement strategy that supports commercialization and business objectives.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior leaders across producer organizations, food companies, processors, retailers, industry associations, policymakers, NGOs, and other key stakeholders.
- Expand PIC's presence and influence with priority stakeholders and decision-makers across the protein value chain.
- Represent PIC at industry conferences, trade associations, advisory groups, and other strategic forums.
- Create and manage engagement plans for key organizations and stakeholders to advance strategic priorities.
- Influence industry dialogue and increase stakeholder confidence in emerging technologies and their responsible application.
- Serve as a trusted source of stakeholder intelligence by monitoring industry trends, market dynamics, policy developments, and competitive activity.
- Identify emerging risks, concerns, and opportunities that may impact commercialization, market acceptance, or business strategy.
- Translate stakeholder insights into actionable recommendations that inform commercialization, communications, stewardship, and corporate strategy.
- Partner with internal leaders to coordinate stakeholder engagement activities, executive interactions, and relationship management efforts.
- Prepare executive briefings, stakeholder profiles, and strategic updates that enable informed decision-making.
- Help strengthen PIC's industry leadership through speaking opportunities, strategic partnerships, thought leadership initiatives, and stakeholder education programs.
RequirementsBasic Qualifications (required):- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, Business, Communications, Public Affairs, Political Science, or a related field.
- 7 - 10 years of experience in stakeholder engagement, industry relations, public affairs, government affairs, strategic partnerships, corporate affairs, or a related function.
- Proven experience building and managing relationships with senior executives, industry associations, customers, policymakers, and other external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute engagement strategies that support commercial or organizational objectives.
- Experience representing an organization at industry conferences, trade associations, advisory boards, and executive-level forums.
- Strong understanding of agriculture, food production, animal health, biotechnology, life sciences, or related industries.
- Experience gathering and synthesizing stakeholder feedback, market intelligence, and industry trends into actionable business recommendations.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and influencing skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences and build credibility quickly.
- Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Experience working cross-functionally with commercial, communications, marketing, regulatory, scientific, and executive leadership teams.
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive issues with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally approximately 50% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications:- Advanced degree (MBA, Master's, PhD, or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
- Experience within animal agriculture, livestock production, genetics, food systems, biotechnology, or agricultural technology.
- Knowledge of gene editing, biotechnology, sustainability, animal health, or other emerging agricultural innovations.
- Experience developing executive briefings, stakeholder engagement plans, and strategic recommendations for senior leadership.
- Established network of industry contacts across agriculture, food production, protein production, government, trade associations, and related sectors.
