Full Job Description
As the Director, Implementations, you will provide strategic leadership for implementation and continuous improvement initiatives that support successful customer onboarding, operational excellence, and long-term business growth across GXO's logistics operations. You will partner with senior leadership, Operations, IT, Engineering, PMO, Finance, and customers to translate business strategy into functional plans, drive complex implementations, champion Lean methodologies, and ensure operational effectiveness. This role will lead high-performing teams, manage significant stakeholder relationships, and drive improvements that positively impact quality, compliance, financial performance, and customer satisfaction.

What you'll do on a typical day:
  • Provide strategic direction for implementation and continuous improvement initiatives, translating business segment strategy into functional plans and ensuring successful execution
  • Lead complex customer implementations and operational initiatives, ensuring deliverables meet client SLAs, company standards, budgets, schedules, and business objectives
  • Partner with senior leadership, Operations, IT, Engineering, PMO, Finance, and customers to identify process and systemic gaps, develop solutions, and resolve complex implementation challenges
  • Champion GXO Lean methodologies by driving continuous improvement initiatives, establishing quality standards for gap analysis, validating financial savings, and promoting Lean training and development across the organization
  • Serve as a senior escalation point for internal and external stakeholders, leading resolution of complex issues and preparing customer-facing presentations and solution recommendations
  • Build and lead high-performing implementation teams by attracting top talent, establishing performance expectations, developing employees, and creating a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement


What you need to succeed at GXO:

At a minimum, you'll need:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work or military experience
  • 12-15 years of experience in logistics, transportation, warehousing, distribution, implementation, or supply chain operations
  • 10-12 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; 8 years with a Master's degree; or 5 years of business experience with a PhD
  • Significant experience leading complex implementations, continuous improvement initiatives, and cross-functional operational projects
  • Strong knowledge of Lean methodologies, project management, gap analysis, process improvement, and operational excellence
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strategic plans, manage budgets and resources, and translate business objectives into actionable operational strategies
  • Proven experience leading and developing high-performing teams, including talent acquisition, performance management, coaching, succession planning, and organizational development
  • Strong financial and business acumen with the ability to evaluate industry trends, business performance, operational opportunities, and financial impacts
  • Excellent executive-level communication, presentation, negotiation, customer relationship management, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills

It'd be great if you also have:
  • Lean Certification (Lean Six Sigma or equivalent)
  • Experience leading large-scale customer implementations or multi-functional transformation initiatives within logistics, transportation, warehousing, or distribution
  • Experience developing and implementing organizational Lean training programs and driving enterprise-wide continuous improvement initiatives
