Primary ResponsibilitiesThe Director, HR Service Delivery & People Operations is a strategic leadership role responsible for transforming the employee experience through efficient, scalable, and data-driven HR processes. This leader will oversee the optimization of HR Shared Services, Payroll Administration, and People Operations. This role will focus on streamlining workflows, implementing robust self-service technology, and ensuring total accuracy and compliance in payroll and data management. Essential FunctionsDUTIES, TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Team Leadership & Consultative Guidance: Oversees a team that provides consultative guidance to managers and employees on benefits, compensation, payroll, organizational development, workforce/succession planning, training, and performance management.
- Policy Compliance Oversight: Ensures policies applied across business units, divisions, or profit centers comply with organizational policies and procedures.
- Strategic Leadership & Transformation: Leads the unification of HR Shared Services and Payroll into a cohesive HR Operations function.
- Service Delivery Model Design: Defines and implements a tiered service model balancing automated self-service with high-touch support for complex inquiries.
- Workflow Redesign & Scalability: Redesigns end-to-end HR workflows to reduce cycle times, eliminate manual redundancies, and improve scalability.
- Payroll Strategy & Compliance: Oversees end-to-end payroll administration, ensuring accuracy, timely delivery, and regulatory compliance across all jurisdictions.
- Specialized Pay Administration: Manages integration of complex payroll streams (e.g., Transportation and Driver Pay) into the central payroll function.
- Data Governance & HRIS Integrity: Maintains HRIS data integrity, ensuring quality reporting, analytics, auditing, and privacy compliance.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
- Skill in designing and implementing tiered HR service delivery models (self-service, shared services, specialized support) that balance efficiency with employee experience.
- Deep knowledge of end-to-end payroll administration, multi-jurisdictional compliance, and specialized pay structures (e.g., variable pay, driver/transportation pay).
- Proficiency with HRIS platforms (e.g., Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, ADP) and ability to ensure data integrity, reporting accuracy, and privacy compliance.
- Ability to identify inefficiencies, redesign workflows, and apply continuous improvement frameworks to reduce cycle times and manual redundancies.
- Skill in leading large-scale functional integrations (e.g., unifying HR Shared Services and Payroll) and guiding teams through structural change.
- Strong understanding of employment law, wage and hour regulations, and compliance requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
- Ability to lead, coach, and develop a multi-functional HR operations team, fostering accountability and consultative service delivery.
- Skill in setting departmental goals, defining key performance indicators, and using data to drive accountability and continuous improvement.
- Ability to build trusted relationships with business unit leaders, managers, and employees, providing strategic HR guidance that aligns with business needs.
- Ability to plan, execute, and oversee complex, cross-functional HR initiatives (e.g., system integrations, service model rollouts) on time and within scope.
Minimum Requirements, Qualifications, Additional Skills, AptitudeEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or a related field; MBA or HR certification (SHRM-SCP/SPHR) is a strong plus.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in HR Operations, Shared Services
- Strong proficiency with major HRIS platforms (e.g., Workday, Dayforce, Service Now) and experience driving system implementations or large-scale optimizations.
- Demonstrated success in leading large, multi-functional teams and managing organizational change.
- Deep knowledge of payroll administration, multi-state tax regulations, and the integration of specialized pay structures (e.g., driver pay, incentive payouts).
