Job Summary and Qualifications

The DC EHSS Director is responsible for leading safety, security, and asset protection initiatives for the distribution center network. Key duties include risk mitigation, incident response, loss control, and compliance with OSHA and other regulations. Candidates should have a background in safety or occupational health, with prior experience in distribution centers. The role requires strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office. Certifications such as Associate Safety Professional, Wicklander-Zulawski, Six Sigma, or LPQ/LPC are highly desirable. The position involves collaboration with leadership, conducting audits, and maintaining compliance with environmental and safety programs. The Director of Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHSS) is an integral part of the leadership team and is responsible for leading efforts that ensure the safety and security of the workplace for colleagues, visitors and vendors. The EHSS Director is responsible for risk mitigation, planning for and providing real-time support and communication should there be a security breach or any other critical safety event at any distribution center. The EHSS Director is accountable for reducing TM injury rates, security, shrink/damage control and helping improve the inventory accuracy of the DC network. This position requires the ability to influence, teach, coach and train others. In addition, the EHSS Director is responsible for ensuring operational and procedural compliance, auditing, hazmat compliance, conducting investigations, managing and proposing solutions to mitigate injuries/losses as well as presenting key findings to leadership. Core duties and responsibilities of the position are outlined below; however, duties may change at any time to support the needs of the business.

What you will do:

  • Maintain and develop partnerships with DC leadership, CSC and cross functional teams
  • Develop site specific loss control strategies to prevent and reduce hazards and losses for DC enterprise.
  • Investigate the cause of incidents, including injuries, shrink/inventory concerns, security threats, powered industrial truck incidents, and near misses, and partner with DC leadership to develop corrective measures and controls.
  • Assist with property protection controls, including fire protection standards & controls, disaster and continuity plans and training along with coordinating external fire & risk inspections.
  • Actively support, coordinate and promote the company's safety, ethics and integrity programs.
  • Prepare and present training courses and educate team on safety, shrink, inventory control along with how to prepare and respond to critical incidents - Hazmat, Weather, Active Shooter, Civil Unrest, etc.
  • Help maintain current required OSHA programs and provide management with this information for dissemination.
