JOB SUMMARY:
The Director, Digital Workplace and Collaboration will lead the strategy, modernization, and day-to-day operation of CARE's digital workplace and knowledge management ecosystem across the CARE Confederation. This role owns the roadmap for digital collaboration technologies, drives the adoption of AI-powered tools to transform how staff share and use knowledge, and modernizes and operates CARE Shares and knowledge management platform so that CARE's collective knowledge can be captured, curated, and put to use. The Director will act as a change agent and thought leader - building stakeholder trust, shaping cultural and business-process norms, and leading a team of program managers, technical specialists, and application managers - to ensure the digital workplace is secure, scalable, inclusive, and future-ready for a geographically dispersed and diverse workforce.
This role reports to the Chief Information Officer and plays a key part in ensuring CARE's digital environment remains innovative, human-centered, and aligned with the organization's evolving needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Digital Workplace and Collaboration Technology Strategy, Roadmap, and Implementation
• Develop and execute a forward-thinking digital workplace strategy and product roadmap that aligns with CARE's mission and operational goals, leading Confederation-wide discovery and stakeholder engagement.
• Lead the planning, communication, assessment, and implementation of key digital workplace projects, including collaboration tools, the intranet, and productivity applications.
• Oversee the modernization and implementation of multitenant Microsoft infrastructure, translating business needs into technical solutions across SharePoint Online, Teams, and OneDrive.
• Ensure the digital workplace strategy aligns with best practices in knowledge management, collaboration, and information-sharing in a global context, and that the technology is secure, scalable, and resilient.
Knowledge Management Platform Modernization and Operation across CARE Confederation
• Own the modernization, performance, and maturity of CARE Shares and CARE's knowledge sharing and collaboration platforms, instituting a sustainable knowledge services function.
• Manage and maintain the global information architecture and taxonomy underpinning CARE Shares; work with platform managers to review yearly audits and user testing, and design and deliver improvement plans.
• Establish performance and maturity measures for CARE's knowledge sharing and collaboration tools portfolio to ensure it is delivering maximum impact across the Confederation.
• Provide dedicated knowledge management support to collect, identify, collate, document, disseminate, and maintain data and content across the platform.
AI Tools Adoption, Integration, and Transformation Support
• Champion the integration of AI-powered solutions into the digital workplace to empower staff, automate processes, and improve knowledge management and productivity.
• Assess, pilot, and scale AI capabilities across Microsoft infrastructure and knowledge management platforms, keeping abreast of emerging trends and technologies to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
• Develop guidance, training, and governance for the responsible adoption of AI tools, ensuring staff at all levels can use them effectively and appropriately.
• Identify opportunities to leverage AI to address the unique needs and challenges of a geographically dispersed, multilingual workforce.
Change Agent, Thought Leadership, and Team Development
• Champion the digital workplace and AI vision to senior staff and frontline users, shaping the cultural and business-process norms that drive utilization and adoption.
• Lead and mentor a diverse team of program managers, technical specialists, and application managers; oversee organizational design, resource planning, and professional development.
• Liaise with Confederation stakeholders and other relevant entities to ensure alignment of digital workplace services with member needs; own the Digital Workplace budget and target goals.
• Represent CARE as a thought leader in relevant external forums (e.g., NetHope), and act as a change agent bridging cultural boundaries and organizational siloes.
