About the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation:

The Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation (EOCF), the charitable arm of OEGSE, is a proud supporter of Oil Country and has been contributing to our community's success since 2001. With a focus on programs aimed at those most vulnerable in our community and youth hockey programming with a goal to increase participation of under-represented groups in our community, the Oilers Foundation is dedicated to building strong, vibrant and safe communities by demonstrating philanthropic leadership and continues its deep legacy of giving back. Thanks to the generosity of our valued hockey fans, Oilers players and alumni, the EOCF Board of Directors, OEG Sports & Entertainment employees and the Katz Family, the Foundation has contributed to more than 3,000 charitable organizations and youth hockey programs across Oil Country.

About the Role:

Reporting to the Executive Director of the EOCF, the Director of Development is responsible for creating and implementing a comprehensive fundraising strategy across Oil Country, primarily for the foundation's ground-breaking initiative, 'Every Kid Deserves a Shot'. Since 2023, the foundation has invested $14.7m into partners and programs that support this initiative, reaching over 125,000 kids. This role will develop leading-edge and creative donor prospecting, recognition and stewardship programs that leverage the brand and profile of EOCF and the Oilers!

Your Focus in this Role:

  • Create and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy across Oil Country and beyond that builds on the existing brand and profile of EOCF and affinity to the Oilers.
  • Conceptualize and realize fundraising campaigns (third party, membership, companion events etc.) including developing and executing plans, managing resources, compiling research, and hitting fundraising campaign targets.
  • Develop leading-edge and creative donor prospecting, recognition and stewardship programs that leverage the brand and profile of EOCF and the Oilers.
  • Secure grant funding (government, foundations, etc.).
  • Collaborate with teams across OEG to:
    • Identify and secure CSR and community investment opportunities with existing and potential corporate partners.
    • Identify and implement opportunities for fans and ticket holders to engage in community through EOCF.
    • Grow the database of potential donors and customers.
  • Build engaging ways for the EOCF and Oilers stakeholders (e.g. past board members, alumni) to remain connected to and support the foundation.
  • Secure and maintain a personal portfolio of prospects and donors, cultivate relationships, and demonstrate a consistent conversion rate through the fundraising cycle.
  • Build, manage and deliver fundraising administrative activities.

Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Business Administration degree or adjacent.
  • Minimum 10 years relevant, transferable experience in a fundraising or revenue generating role.
  • 5 years of Senior leadership experience.
  • Experience in Sports Management an asset.
