About the Role
As the Director, Cross-Border Advisory & Governance, you will support the development, implementation and ongoing management of the organization's global financial crimes compliance framework, with a particular focus on activities that span multiple jurisdictions.
The role will focus on ensuring that cross-border activities are supported by a consistent global framework while appropriately incorporating local regulatory requirements and jurisdiction-specific considerations. This includes supporting new and evolving regulatory obligations, changes to business activities, market expansion, and other initiatives that may create or change financial crime compliance requirements.
The position will require strong collaboration across Legal, Compliance, Operations, and business stakeholders to ensure regulatory expectations are clearly understood, appropriately implemented, and supported by effective governance and oversight.
What You'll Do
• Partner with Legal to evaluate the cross border requirements (i.e., financial crime regulatory requirements, licensing, data privacy) across jurisdictions and determine how requirements apply to the organization's activities.
• Support implementation of Legal's interpretation of regulatory requirements related to cross border requirements and obligations.
• Translate regulatory and Legal guidance into clear operational requirements, processes, procedures, and controls that can be consistently implemented across relevant business activities and jurisdictions.
• Serve as a central Cross Border Compliance partner for cross-border activities, helping identify situations where multiple regulatory regimes or jurisdictional requirements may apply.
• Partner with regional FCOs to understand local regulatory expectations, identify areas requiring additional guidance or escalation, and support alignment between local requirements and the global Cross Border Compliance framework.
• Develop, maintain, and periodically review financial crimes policies, standards, procedures, guidance, and supporting documentation related to cross-border activities.
• Develop and deliver training and awareness to business teams and other stakeholders to promote understanding of financial crime requirements, responsibilities, escalation expectations, and controls.
• Provide advisory support to the business and compliance stakeholders on financial crimes matters, including complex or non-standard scenarios requiring cross-jurisdictional consideration.
• Establish and maintain appropriate governance, management information, reporting, and control oversight for cross-border financial crimes activities.
• Develop and monitor key indicators, reporting, and other management information to identify trends, control gaps, emerging risks, and areas requiring remediation or additional oversight.
• Support control design and periodic reviews to assess whether requirements have been appropriately incorporated into operational processes and whether controls remain effective and sustainable.
• Support regulatory examinations, internal audits, compliance reviews, and other assurance activities relating to cross-border financial crimes requirements, as appropriate.
What You'll Need
• Bachelor's degree preferred with 8+ years of experience in financial crimes compliance, AML/CFT, sanctions, regulatory compliance, risk management, or a related discipline. In lieu of a degree, a combination of education and relevant professional experience will be considered.
• Professional financial crimes certification such as CAMS, CFCS, ICA, CFE, or equivalent preferred.

• Strong experience drafting policies, standards, procedures, guidance, governance materials, and management reporting.
• Experience developing and delivering compliance training to both compliance professionals and business stakeholders.
• Ability to evaluate complex or ambiguous regulatory matters, identify appropriate stakeholders, and facilitate decisions across multiple functions and jurisdictions.
