Provides strategic direction and visionary leadership for mental health services and programs. Supervises the staff in the Counseling Center. The director ensures that objectives and service offerings reflect the mental health needs of the community and are responsive to trends within college mental health. The director fosters a culture where all staff work together to offer valuable contributions to the lives of Pepperdine students.
Duties- Provide vision and strategic direction for the Counseling Center and the Student Care Team. Manage and analyze data sets to explore CC utilization and facilitate program evaluation. Implement ongoing program assessment and evaluation. Develop goals and objectives based on routine assessment practice, learning and development outcomes. Prepare all reports including annual report, OKR, and assists in division-wide OKR, and Student Affairs program review. Develop clinical response plans for mental health crises and emergencies. Supervise the development of marketing materials and presentations to raise awareness about CC services. Develop and implement the annual budget; instigate adequate accounting controls to monitor assets, liabilities, revenues, and expenses; perform fiscal planning. Ensure compliance with professional standards and state and federal laws regarding therapy services. Manage behavioral health partnership with telehealth vendor.
- Create clinical systems that are responsive to client flow and support excellent service delivery. Provide clinical supervision for unlicensed therapists. Provide therapy and crisis for students and for mental health emergencies, including 24/7 emergency/on-call support. Provide consultation to community members who are concerned about a student in distress. Participate in programs and trainings that raise awareness about mental health issues and resources.
- Work collaboratively to facilitate medical and/or psychological departures from and returns to the University. Participate in Student Care Team, especially attuned to campus safety concerns related to presentations with a mental health component. Serve on Threat Assessment Team and work with campus partners to identify safety concerns in their areas. Advise the vice president of Student Affairs on matters relating to community mental health, including, but not limited to crisis response. Participate in the University's emergency response during natural disasters, leading mental health support for the community.
- Manage recruitment process for all open positions in the Counseling Center and Care Team. Supervise and provide evaluations for clinical staff and administrative staff.
- Contribute to University Counseling Center programs, conferences, committees, and professional organizations. Ensure innovative ideas and trends are explored for the Pepperdine community.
- Serve as Christian role model for the community. Regularly attend President's Briefings, division meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and QualificationsRequired:
- Master's Degree in Clinical Counseling, Social Work, or other relevant health related discipline.
- 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in leadership role and a minimum of 2+ years recent related experience working in a University setting.
- Licensed as a Clinical Counselor in the state of California.
- Ability to integrate Christian faith with student development theories and practice. Personal faith in Jesus Christ; active involvement in a local church; personally invested in a worldview grounded in Christian theology. Demonstrated support for the Christian mission of the University.
- Familiarity with Titanium and SPSS.
- Solid clinical skills, Excellent written communication, Titanium Statistics and Research skills General office equipment, computers, copier.
Preferred:
- Doctoral Degree in Clinical Counseling, Social Work, or other relevant health related discipline.
This is a Regular, Exempt, 40 hour per week position.
Expected Pay Range: $145,000 - $155,000 per year
The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level.
