As Director, Commerce, you’ll oversee strategy and execution across commerce media and marketplace/retail dynamics, ensure consistently excellent delivery, and act as a senior partner to client teams in high‑stakes moments. You’ll set clear standards for craft, testing, and operational discipline, champion product‑ and measurement‑led ways of working, and build a strong bench of talent as the commerce landscape continues to evolve. This role will be a flex role. The candidate should possess the ability to jump in and out of client businesses, work cross-functionally with team members and be willing to roll up their sleeves to deliver the best possible outcome for client or new business opportunities. 

Level and scope alignment

  • Level:Director. Help jump in on client businesses to cover leave of absence, or gaps within teams. 

  • Team:Will support client teams as well as new business. The right candidate will be able to dive into the weeds, but also see the bigger picture and align their ways of working styles with the team. 

  • Scope:Will be a floater across the organization to help cover gaps across client businesses, or help win new business. 

Key Responsibilities:

People Leader:

  • Participate in a culture of collaboration, innovation, continuous improvement, and strong accountability.

  • Set clear goals and performance expectations with teams you work withOwn quality control for the team’s work product and ensure leaders have the right standards, templates, and review rhythms to execute consistently.

Client-Centric:

  • Own and manage key client relationships as the senior Commerce leader; ensure strategies align to client business goals and commerce realities (retail dynamics, assortment, profitability, seasonality, platform constraints).

  • Lead strategic client touchpoints and presentations, tailoring narratives for senior audiences and turning insight into clear decisions and next steps.

  • Anticipate risks (performance, platform policy shifts, retail factors, operational gaps) and guide teams to resolve issues early and transparently.

Product-Led:

  • Champion Tinuiti’s product and technology suite within commerce delivery, ensuring teams use tools to improve scalability, efficiency, and quality of insights.

  • Partner cross‑functionally (Product, Analytics, I&G, Creative, other channels) to embed better workflows and reduce manual work and rework.

  • Stay current on commerce platform capabilities and changes; translate platform shifts into practical updates to playbooks, client recommendations, and team training.

Data & Measurement Data-Driven:

  • Oversee the analysis of complex commerce performance data; ensure recommendations are evidence‑based, measurable, and tied to client KPIs.

  • Set expectations for testing rigor and learning loops (clear hypotheses, clean setups, defined read timing, documented learnings).

  • Ensure teams monitor performance consistently and can clearly explain what’s happening, why it matters, and what should change next.

Channel Specific Expertise & The Tinuiti Way:

  • Oversee development and execution of comprehensive commerce strategies, leveraging deep expertise in commerce platforms and marketplace dynamics.

  • Uphold and evolve Tinuiti Way commerce standards (planning, activation excellence, QA, measurement practices, client communication quality) in partnership with commerce leads and Growth & Innovation teams to ensure work is consistent across accounts and teams.

  • Promote cross‑channel alignment so commerce strategies connect to full‑funnel plans and the broader media mix.

  • Drive growth, retention, and profitability outcomes for commerce clients by diagnosing opportunities, prioritizing the highest‑impact work, and holding teams accountable to execution quality.

  • Sponsor innovation where it matters: new commerce tactics, platform features, workflow improvements, and scalable playbooks.

  • Identify and reduce waste (inefficient processes, repeated errors, low‑quality patterns) by installing simple standards and safeguards that stick.

  • People outcomes:Engagement and retention of key talent; progression/readiness of high performers; manager bench strength and succession coverage.

Professional & Technical Qualifications:

  • Experience: 10+ years in commerce / e‑commerce / retail media / marketplace roles, with a proven record driving growth strategies and measurable client outcomes.

  • Leadership: 5+ years leading teams (ICs and/or managers), including coaching, performance management, quality review, and talent development.

  • Commerce platform expertise: Strong familiarity with commerce media and marketplace ecosystems (e.g., Amazon, Walmart, Criteo and similar), including how platform changes impact strategy and execution.

  • Measurement & analytics: Comfortable guiding teams in data interpretation, testing fundamentals, and measurement‑informed decision making; can translate performance and trade‑offs into clear client narratives.

  • Cross‑functional influence: Proven ability to partner with Client Partners, Creative, Analytics, and other channels to deliver cohesive commerce strategies.

  • Communication: Strong executive‑ready storytelling and client presence; able to drive alignment, decisions, and accountability.

The hiring salary range for this role is $135,000 - $155,000 plus a discretionary performance bonus.

Hiring salaries are determined through interviews and a review of education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant, parity with other team members, and alignment with market data. We will provide more information on our benefits, incentive pay,  and equity upon request. Disclosure as required by the Colorado Equal Pay for > Equal Work Act, C.R.S. § 8-5-101 et seq.
