Your role at Baxter
The Director, Climate Transition & Clean Energy Strategy serves as Baxter's enterprise subject matter expert for clean energy strategy, energy accounting, and energy-related climate disclosures. As clean energy and energy decarbonization are expected to deliver a substantial portion of Baxter's operational emissions reductions and are critical to achieving the company's Net Zero ambitions, this role provides strategic leadership for the design and execution of enterprise energy transition pathways.
The position provides technical leadership on energy accounting methodologies consistent with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHGP) and other applicable regulatory and disclosure frameworks, ensuring accurate, auditable, and decision-useful energy and emissions reporting across the enterprise.
What you'll be doing
1. Enterprise Clean Energy Strategy & Transition Planning
Lead the development and execution of Baxter's enterprise clean energy strategy across renewable electricity, low-carbon thermal energy, electrification, and emerging energy technologies. This role translates Baxter's climate commitments and renewable energy goals into practical regional implementation plans and serves as a key strategic contributor to the enterprise Climate Transition Plan, ensuring energy decarbonization pathways support long-term business resilience, growth, and Net Zero ambitions.
2. Energy Accounting, Climate Data & Regulatory Reporting
Serve as Baxter's enterprise subject matter expert for energy accounting and energy-related greenhouse gas methodologies, ensuring alignment with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHGP) and other applicable climate disclosure and regulatory reporting frameworks. The role provides technical oversight for energy and emissions data used in sustainability reporting, external disclosures, and assurance processes, ensuring reporting is accurate, auditable, and decision-useful for internal and external stakeholders.
3. Energy Markets, Commercial Strategy & Risk Management
Provide strategic leadership on energy procurement, market intelligence, and commercial decision-making to optimize Baxter's global electricity and thermal energy portfolio. Through financial modeling, scenario analysis, and evaluation of renewable energy sourcing solutions, the role identifies opportunities to reduce cost, manage risk, enhance resiliency, and accelerate progress toward the company's clean energy and climate objectives.
4. Enterprise Partnership, Governance & Execution
Partner across Sustainability, Manufacturing, Facilities, EHS, Procurement, Finance, Legal, and other business functions to integrate clean energy considerations into capital planning, operational strategies, and climate-related decision-making. The role provides enterprise governance, strategic guidance, and external representation on energy matters, helping ensure successful implementation of Baxter's clean energy strategy while maintaining alignment with business priorities and stakeholder expectations.
What you'll bring
7–10+ years of experience in energy strategy, energy markets, renewable/clean energy, utilities, or capital‑intensive operations.
Demonstrated strength in:
Financial modeling and investment analysis
Contract negotiation and commercial structures
Energy markets and price risk management
Experience spanning both electricity and thermal energy strongly preferred.
Proven ability to work cross‑functionally and influence decisions without direct ownership of execution.
We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $176,000 - $242,000annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, commission, and/or long-term incentive.
