OFFICIAL TITLE: Director, Capital Campaign
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Vice President for University Advancement (VPUA)

General Statement of Duties: Reporting to the Vice President for University Advancement (VPUA), the Director, Capital Campaign (DCC) coordinates the Capital Campaign planning, implementation, reporting, volunteer engagement, leadership briefings, and prospect management in support of institutional fundraising priorities. In this role, the DCC will work closely with the Executive Directors, Alumni Relations and Development, and the Senior Director of Advancement Services, to act as a strategic leader and steward for the University's comprehensive capital campaign and is responsible for campaign execution.

In addition, the DCC will work with University leadership, advancement staff, campaign counsel, trustees, and Volunteers. Alongside the Executive Director, Principal Gift Officer (PGO), the DCC will specifically oversee campaign coordination - timelines, communications, and reporting systems. The position serves as the primary staff support to the VPUA on campaign matters and will be tangentially involved in all aspects of University Advancement fundraising activities.

This position requires strong strategic, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative environment. Occasional evening and weekend work is required. This is a full-time, exempt, fully benefited professional position funded by the University's three-year Capital Campaign. Continued funding for the position is contingent upon the availability of campaign funding.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Duties (E):

1. Campaign Strategy and Design
  • (E) Collaborate with the VPUA, University leadership, campaign counsel, trustees, and volunteers to implement and monitor the comprehensive campaign plan.
  • (E )Work with PGO to develop strategic campaign road map in collaboration with VPUA.
  • (E) Design and execute campaign timelines, campaign milestones, campaign meetings, and campaign related activities.
  • (E) Monitor campaign progress and provide regular analysis, updates, and recommendations.
  • (E) Assist in developing campaign policies, naming opportunities, and campaign gift acceptance procedures.

?2. Prospect Management and Volunteer Engagement
  • (E) Oversee systems related to campaign prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and campaign pipeline management.
  • (E) Partner with Advancement Services staff to maintain accurate campaign gift tables, forecasts, and campaign reporting.
  • (E) Develop campaign strategies for principal and major gift prospects.
  • (E) Coordinate campaign committees and volunteer activities, including recruitment, training, recognition, and meeting support.
  • (E) Prepare campaign prospect briefings, reports, solicitation materials, and campaign communications for leadership and volunteers.

3. Communications and Reporting
  • (E) Collaborate with Communications and Donor Relations staff to ensure consistent campaign messaging and updates.
  • (E )Partner in developing campaign materials, including the case for support, campaign stewardship materials, donor communications, and presentations.
  • (E) Oversee campaign dashboards, analytics, and reporting systems.
  • (E) Create and maintain metric-based reporting tools to measure campaign progress.
  • (E) Produce campaign development, financial, stewardship, and donor reports, including campaign donor and fund listings for annual reports.
  • (E) Analyze campaign fundraising and benchmarking data to identify trends, opportunities, and operational improvements.
  • (E) Maintain high standards for data integrity, financial tracking, and campaign documentation.

4. Staff Collaboration and Stewardship
  • (E) Work collaboratively across University departments to support campaign priorities.
  • (E) Participate in the development and implementation of divisional policies and procedures.
  • (E) Represent University Advancement in campaign-related meetings, events, and donor engagement activities as assigned.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:
  • At least five (5) years of progressively responsible professional experience in fundraising, advancement operations, campaign coordination, project management, donor relations, or higher education advancement.
  • Experience supporting capital or comprehensive campaigns preferred.
  • Strong project management, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience with CRM systems, fundraising analytics, dashboards, and reporting tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively with senior leadership, trustees, volunteers, donors, and University stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, discretion, sound judgment, and commitment to confidentiality.

Preferred Qualification:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; advanced degree desirable.

Additional Information:

This is a full-time, benefited, exempt, non-unit professional position. The firm annual salary range for this position is $80,000- $90,000, commensurate with relevant professional experience and education. Funding for this position is secured for the length of the University's three-year Capital Campaign. Continued funding for the position is contingent upon the availability of campaign funding.
