Your Tasks Amazon Business Leadership & P&L Ownership - Own and lead the full Amazon business strategy, including revenue growth, profitability, trade investment, promotional planning, and annual operating plans.
- Manage the Amazon P&L with strong focus on net sales, gross margin, contribution margin, accruals, chargebacks, AVS/strategic account investments, and overall financial delivery.
- Lead the development and execution of short- and long-term growth plans across brands, categories, subcategories, and product portfolios.
- Identify growth opportunities across assortment, pricing, promotions, retail media, digital shelf, new product launches, and operational efficiencies.
- Translate business performance into clear insights, actions, and executive-level recommendations.
Amazon Vendor Management & Annual Negotiation - Lead the end-to-end Annual Vendor Negotiation process with Amazon, including preparation, internal alignment, financial modeling, negotiation strategy, and execution.
- Serve as the senior relationship owner with Amazon vendor managers, category teams, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Manage key commercial terms, funding asks, trade-offs, and profitability levers to protect the business while enabling growth.
- Proactively address Amazon business risks, including cost pressures, pricing challenges, availability issues, profitability gaps, and vendor compliance matters.
Account Management & Day-to-Day Execution - Oversee daily Amazon account operations while maintaining the ability to dive into details when needed.
- Ensure strong execution across Vendor Central, catalog management, content accuracy, case management, variation strategy, item setup, availability, pricing, purchase orders, and chargeback prevention.
- Partner with supply chain, customer service, finance, brand, sales, and operations teams to improve forecast accuracy, inventory health, fill rate, and customer experience.
- Lead promotional and event planning across Amazon tentpole moments, including Prime Day, Holiday, Cyber Week, brand-specific events, and category activations.
- Ensure operational discipline through weekly business reviews, KPI tracking, issue escalation, and root-cause problem solving.
Amazon Retail Media, AMC & Full-Funnel Growth - Bring strong understanding of Amazon Ads, retail media measurement, attribution, incrementality, and media-to-commerce performance.
- Leverage Amazon Marketing Cloud to uncover advanced customer insights, support audience strategy, measure media effectiveness, and inform business decisions.
- Partner closely with retail media, agency, and analytics teams to ensure media investments drive profitable growth and align with business priorities.
- Connect media, content, digital shelf, promotions, and retail readiness into a unified Amazon growth model.
Digital Shelf & Content Excellence - Secure best-in-class digital shelf execution across product detail pages, brand stores, A+ content, SEO, ratings & reviews, imagery, product claims, and conversion optimization.
- Ensure the Amazon catalog is accurate, compliant, optimized, and competitively positioned.
- Partner with brand marketing, content, regulatory, legal, and digital shelf teams to deliver high-quality, conversion-driving content.
- Monitor and improve digital shelf KPIs, including share of search, content completeness, availability, ratings and reviews, traffic, conversion, buy box health, and PDP performance.
Your Profile- Master's degree in business, Economics, Finance, Marketing, or a related field required.
- 12-15 years of holistic eCommerce experience, with at least 10 years of Amazon 1P experience managing a significant P&L.
- Proven experience leading a fast-growing, multi-brand Amazon business, preferably within Beauty, Personal Care, Consumer Health, or CPG.
- Hands on experience in Amazon Vendor Central, Amazon account operations, catalog management, promotions, AVN, pricing, forecasting, and financial planning.
- Experience managing or partnering closely with Walmart.com and/or Target.com preferred.
- Demonstrated success leading Annual Vendor Negotiations with Amazon, including financial modeling, scenario planning, negotiation strategy, and executive alignment.
- Deep understanding of the Amazon Ads ecosystem, retail media, digital shelf management, and performance marketing.
- Hands-on experience using Amazon Marketing Cloud to support audience insights, media measurement, and business decision-making. Familiarity with tools and platforms such as Stackline, Profitero, Pacvue, Skai, CommerceIQ, Analytic Index, Salsify, Syndigo, or similar eCommerce enablement platforms.
- Experience with new product launches, content optimization, marketplace dynamics, retail media test-and-learn programs, and incrementality measurement.
- Strong understanding of omnichannel retail dynamics across Amazon, Walmart, Target, Instacart, Ulta, or grocery/drug retailers.
- Proven ability to lead and develop a mid-to-large team in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Communicates complex issues clearly, concisely, and with strong business judgment.
- Strong analytical capability with excellent command of numbers, financial metrics, and operational KPIs.
- Ability to manage ambiguity, prioritize effectively, and lead multiple complex initiatives simultaneously.
The Director, Amazon reports into the Vice President, E-Commerce and is based in Stamford, CT on a hybrid working model, so you must be able to commute to Stamford three times per week. This person leads a team of 3, including an Account Manager, Strategic Analytics Manager, and an Analyst.
