Responsibilities We are seeking a seasoned Directed Energy Technical Leader and Business Strategy Advisor. In this role, the successful candidate will lead and mentor a team of analysts charged with conducting modeling and simulation efforts for advanced laser / microwave / optical systems. The ideal candidate has a strong background in engineering, physics, or applied mathematics, and extensive experience building, validating, and applying models to guide system design and performance optimization or risk characterization.
- Leads interdisciplinary research projects to explore and advance weapons and other warfare systems with a focus on kill chain decision-making, battle management, and command and control architectures that leverage artificial intelligence, automation, and complexity theory.
- As the Directed Energy simulation and wargaming subject matter expert the incumbent will be an participant on external Directed Energy expert events to help training on the subject and be the present expert some examples might be American Society of Naval Engineers (ASNE) for the Naval Engineers' Journal on directed energy. Directed Energy Professional Society (DEPS) conference Chairmanship for these events.
- Be the Subject matter Expert and develop and lead high-fidelity models of lasers, microwaves, and/or optical components and systems, including propagation, nonlinear effects, and noise sources.
- Perform system-level simulations to predict performance, sensitivity, and robustness under realistic operating conditions.
- Lead an multi disciplined team to translate complex modeling results into actionable recommendations for multidisciplinary solutions for customer teams.
- Develop simulation workflows, tools, and automation to support rapid design trades and "what-if" studies.
- Stay current on state-of-the-art modeling techniques and relevant commercial/academic tools.
- Support business strategy development and execution across the DoW and IC with particular focus on the Directed Energy community. This includes identifying and engaging existing and potential new clients regarding current and future opportunities. Also includes working with the SPA Chief Capabilities Officer and the SPA Office of Innovation to develop new and impactful capabilities (tools and processes) that enhance deliverables for existing client needs and can be used to penetrate new markets.
QualificationsAbout the Must Haves- US Citizenship with active TS clearance at time of application
- Experiance with advance weapons and other warfare systems with a focus on kill chain decision-making, battle management, and command and control
- Experiance with modeling and simulation within wargaming at an expert level
- Experiance with Directed Energy to include, leading high-fidelity models of lasers, microwaves, and/or optical components and systems, including propagation, nonlinear effects, and noise sources.
- Ability to report to designated work location in Albuquerque, up to full time, based on the needs of the customer
About the Desired- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down complex physical systems into tractable models
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
