Salary Range: $96,844.80 to $158,745.60 annually

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Oncology Center Director is responsible for the overall operations of the assigned patient care areas and is accountable on a 24-hour basis. Is responsible for meeting the Joint Commission standards of patient care and the standards set forth by Title 22 of the California Administrative Code. Is responsible for managing all personnel, supplies and equipment in the assigned department and for promoting teamwork with physicians as well as other healthcare professionals in ancillary departments. Responsible for quality of nursing care and related documentation. Maintains a direct line of communication with the clinical managers under his/her supervision. Accountable for interpreting financial information to enable efficient and effective services.

  • California Registered Nurse License
  • Three (3) to five (5) years in management


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Demonstrates the ability to create a shared vision. Applies critical thinking skills and utilizes financial and quality data and conceptual knowledge in the development of the department vision and operational plan. Involves staff and key stakeholders in the development of a vision for the unit/department within a shared governance model of practice.
  2. Sets clinical, financial, and human resources priorities for improvement in concert with organizational goals.
  3. Demonstrates sound fiscal responsibility in the development and management of the department budget and holds staff accountable for the efficient use of resources including but not limited to managing flexible staffing patterns to meet patient care needs
  4. Effectively create relationships with patients, families, staff, physicians, center and hospital personnel including senior management in both written and verbal communication.
  5. Provide appropriate level of care using triage and initial patient assessment to provide the appropriate treatment, medication administration and diagnostic utilization.
  6. Assure that the most efficient and effective utilization of treatment capacity so that provision of care is not delayed.
  7. Uses technology, systems and rounding to assure that patients are seen by a licensed care provider in a reasonable time frame and adjustments are made to treatment protocols to maximize availability, extended treatment, observation or admission.
  8. Initiate programs to improve organizational performance and to enhance provision of the Oncology Center.
  9. Assures facility compliance with Joint Commission, OSHA and all other Federal, State and local requirements/regulations in all areas of responsibility.
  10. Work cooperatively and supportively with the heads of diagnostic and therapeutic departments to ensure availability, quality, and effective use of services.
  11. Plans and provides patient services in conjunction with Medical Director.
  12. Responsible for developing and managing to operating budget while identifying variances each month and taking corrective action to minimize excessive expenses.
  13. Hires, assigns, schedules, directs, assesses and educates staff with the appropriate licensure to ensure that the Oncology Center is operating at optimal efficiency with sufficient clinical and support staff on all shifts.
  14. Assures administration and adherence to core measure clinical treatment protocols.
  15. Assures that employees provide excellent customer service to patients, families and visitors as reflected in the key drivers customer of patient satisfaction in comparative surveys.
