Full Job Description
Job Summary

Payscale is looking for a Digital Marketing Manager who lives and breathes website performance. This is a hands-on role that owns how our marketing website attracts visitors, engages them once they arrive, and converts them into pipeline - through search strategy, performance monitoring, and AI-accelerated analysis.

You will be the primary owner of top-of-funnel web performance - turning search, traffic, and engagement data into insights, prioritizing the highest-impact optimizations, and using AI tools to move faster than manual analysis allows. You're equally comfortable auditing technical SEO, diagnosing why a page underperforms for a specific traffic source or persona, and using AI to accelerate both.

This is a growth-oriented web performance role for someone who wants to own outcomes across the full attract-engage-convert arc.

What You'll Do
  • Attract - Search & Visibility
    • Own on-page and technical SEO strategy across payscale.com: keyword strategy, content structure, internal linking, site health
    • Own our approach to AEO - how Payscale content shows up in AI-driven answer engines and adapt strategy as search behavior evolves
    • Track rankings, organic traffic, and share of voice against competitors; surface clear, actionable insights regularly
    • Partner with content, product marketing, and web teams so new pages are built with search visibility in mind from day one

    Engage & Convert - Site-Wide Performance & CRO
    • Monitor the performance of key landing pages across the site regulalrly, segmented by traffic source, persona, and campaign
    • Identify underperforming pages and diagnose the cause - messaging mismatch, wrong audience fit, friction, or technical issue
    • Own a CRO testing roadmap, including hypothesis creation, A/B and multivariate testing, statistical analysis, and rollout of winning variants
    • Work directly in Webflow to implement data-driven tests, updates, and optimizations
    • Continuously optimize conversion paths across the site, contextualized by campaign, offer, channel, and page type

    Measurement, Reporting & AI-Accelerated Analysis
    • Own web analytics and reporting for site-wide performance (GA4 + GTM)
    • Build and maintain dashboards tracking traffic, engagement, and conversion across key pages and journeys, sitewide
    • Use AI tools to accelerate analysis, surface insights, and speed up reporting
    • Diagnose funnel drop-off using both quantitative data (GA4) and qualitative tools (heatmaps, session recordings)
    • Deliver consistent reporting and recommendations to marketing leadership

    Cross-functional Collaboration
    • Partner closely with Demand Gen, Content, Product Marketing, and Marketing Operations to translate campaign and content needs into search-visible, high-performing web experiences
    • Help drive a more data-driven, AI-assisted way of working across the web and marketing teams

What We're Looking For
  • 4-6 years of experience in SEO, CRO, web analytics, or growth marketing, with a proven track record of improving organic and on-page performance
  • Strong command of SEO tooling and technical fundamentals (Google Search Console, GA4, Ahrefs/Semrush or similar)
  • Strong GA4 and GTM fluency - comfortable owning tagging, event tracking, and reporting
  • Demonstrated ability to use AI tools (like Claude or similar) to accelerate analysis and reporting - not just familiarity, but active use in your current workflow
  • Experience analyzing and optimizing site performance by traffic source, persona, or segment
  • Comfortable making updates and implementing tests in Webflow or similar CMS platforms as well as testing solutions like Webflow Optimize, VWO, Optimizely etc.
  • Hands-on experience running A/B tests, from hypothesis through statistical analysis to implementation; Webflow Optimize experience is a plus
  • Experience with session recording and heatmapping tools
  • Salesforce, Marketo, Tableau experience is highly preferred (especially understanding how forms, campaigns, and objects integrate with the website)
  • B2B SaaS experience is highly preferred
