Full Job Description
MAIN OBJECTIVE: Repairs and maintains medium & light duty GM trucks, Isuzu trucks and some heavy-duty commercial trucks, both gasoline and diesel, according to dealership and factory specifications. Bob Clapper Technicians are prepared to provide maintenance services, troubleshooting and repairs on all makes and models of light and medium duty vehicles. Our techs are the most well-respected experts in the industry when it comes to diesel equipment and that's what sets us above the rest. As a diesel technician at Bob Clapper Automotive, you will see a variety of equipment and there will always be work to be completed. Being experts in what we do, we stay on top of the everchanging truck technology which means our technicians are always receiving the training they need to satisfy and keep our customers coming back.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Valid Driver's License, maintain insurability through our insurance carrier
  • Must have a 2- year technical degree or higher education and 2 years in a related job field.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information
  • Must have knowledge of and experience working on a variety of vehicle applications
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Computer knowledge
  • Must have basic mathematical skills (must be able to add, subtract, and work with fractions and percentages
  • Must have own tools and tool box

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Communicate with Service Advisor to gain knowledge of job quoted repair time
  • Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards
  • Diagnoses cause of any malfunction and performs repair effectively
  • Communicates with Parts Department to obtain needed parts
  • Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer
  • Communicates with service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time
  • Documents all work performed on the repair order and electronically time stamps each job repair line
  • Road tests vehicle when required
  • Participates in manufacturer sponsored training programs, schools, and events
  • Keeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins
  • Supervises/assists work of any apprentice technicians as assigned
  • Reports machinery/tool defects or malfunctions to Supervisor
  • Ensures that vehicle is kept clean. Notifies Service Advisor or Supervisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle
  • Maintain Customer Satisfaction Index rating at least comparable to that of the manufacturer, zone or branch average
  • Keeps shop area neat and clean
  • Maintains and is accountable for all dealership owned tools and manuals. Returns them to the proper place and in the same condition as when they were received
  • Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner and follows safe work practices
