DevOps Engineer A fast-growing innovation energy company is seeking a DevOps Engineer to support their team. This full-time role is a hybrid opportunity, based out of downtown Chicago.
The DevOps Engineer is responsible for architecting, implementing, and supporting the cloud infrastructure, automation solutions, and deployment pipelines that underpin their technology platform. This role collaborates closely with engineering, product, and operations teams to deliver secure, scalable, and highly available solutions that serve utility and energy customers. Success requires strong technical expertise, a customer-focused approach, and a commitment to continuous improvement, innovation, and cross-functional collaboration.
Required Skills & Experience - 4+ years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability, or Cloud Engineering
- Proven capabilities with AWS services such as VPC, ECS, EKS, EC2, Route 53, S3, SQS, SNS, ElastiCache, OpenSearch, and AWS Transfer Family
- Background in operating and improving reliable, scalable production infrastructure
- Strong technical troubleshooting and analytical capabilities, with the ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively across teams and stakeholder groups
- Experience driving infrastructure cost optimization initiatives while improving operational performance and efficiency
- Passionate about leveraging technology and innovation to solve complex customer and business challenges
- Proven ability to excel in fast-paced, high-growth environments while building strong, collaborative relationships across teams and stakeholders
Desired Skills & Experience - Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
- AWS or other cloud-related certifications
- Knowledge and experience supporting SaaS platforms
- Experience working within the Utilities, Energy, Infrastructure, or Telecommunications industries
What You Will Be Doing Tech Breakdown - Containerization/clusters: Amazon ECS, Kubernetes EKS
- IaC: Terraform
- CI/CD: Jenkins, GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline
- Monitoring/observability : CloudWatch, CloudTrail, GuardDuty
- Scripting/programming: Python, Bash, Groovy
Daily Responsibilities - Drive the development and optimization of cloud-native infrastructure in collaboration with engineering teams, supporting platform growth and customer-focused initiatives
- Manage and support production environments, ensuring reliability, scalability, performance, and operational excellence
- Design, implement, and maintain Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform and industry best practices
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize cloud platforms and services to proactively identify and resolve issues
- Develop automation solutions that streamline operations, reduce manual effort, and improve consistency and scalability
