The OpportunityThe Design Engineer - Power Distribution designs and develops low-voltage secondary power distribution systems supporting industrial heat tracing and electrical infrastructure projects. This is a mid-career individual contributor role based in Houston on a hybrid schedule.
In This Role You Will- Design low-voltage secondary power distribution systems for industrial projects.
- Perform voltage drop, cable sizing, ampacity/derating, and raceway fill calculations.
- Select transformers, panelboards, control panels, breakers, cables, and related equipment.
- Prepare cable schedules, panel schedules, equipment layouts, wiring diagrams, raceway routing drawings, bills of material, and installation details.
- Review designs for compliance with NEC, IEEE, IEC, customer specifications, and company standards.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Project Management, Construction, Procurement, and customers.
- Review vendor drawings, technical submittals, and RFIs.
- Support installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and occasional site visits.
- Help develop engineering standards, templates, and best practices.
What You'll BringRequired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- 3-7 years of low-voltage power distribution design experience.
- Industrial experience in Oil & Gas, Chemical, EPC, Manufacturing, Data Centers, or Power Generation.
- Strong NEC and IEEE knowledge.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Navisworks, Microsoft Office, and SAP.
- Strong analytical, communication, and project coordination skills.
- Ability to work independently within a collaborative engineering team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT).
- Heat tracing experience.
- Experience with Bluebeam, SmartPlant Electrical, ETAP, or Bentley software.
