Full Job Description
Position Summary

Design Engineers collaborate with multiple teams and apply basic engineering and drafting principles to support development of assigned products as well as perform routine design actions. The Design Engineer will create discreet production ready tool and fixture design packages directly supporting customer orders. Additionally, the Design Engineer position is responsible for developing technical reports and information on product design as well as reviewing manufacturing capabilities and standards to drive effective design and part development.

Responsibilities
  • Read, interpret and understand customer part drawings and specifications.
  • Creates production drawings detailing product specifications and manufacturing requirements per industry standards such as ANSI and CES
  • Specifies and designs all tooling associated with manufacturing product including but not limited to molds, extrusion dies, cutting dies, inspection, cutting splicing fixtures, jigs and all other associated tooling.
  • Maintain and update PDM Bills of Materials, Engineering Change Notice documentation, and traceability of design changes from initial prototype to ongoing production.
  • Ensure consistency in product design standards across different product lines while allowing for unique customer requirements and application restrictions.
  • Provides technical information for review with product engineering and design review teams. Consistently applies established engineering defined practices, standards, and documentation methods. Contributes to supporting documentation for procedures and technical reports.
  • Contributes to the completion milestones associated with specific projects (e.g. create functional diagrams and system layouts, review detailed drawings and schematics, define model-based data structures, analyze material requirements; research customer data item requirements).
  • Adopts lean product development and standard engineering development and techniques.
  • Make design proposals and presentations to internal and external customers.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects and works directly with Planners, Manufacturing, Process, Quality, and Tool Shop to complete New Part Orders to meet shipping dates.
  • Work assignments may include cross-functional or project team responsibilities. Contributes and supports other teams or individuals as needed.
Qualifications

Qualifications:
  • 0-2 years in an Engineering Design environment required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline required.
  • Proficient with Tolerance Stack Up, GD&T, SPC, DOE and Six Sigma techniques
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment where products are manufactured at scale
  • Demonstrated knowledge of standard mechanical and electrical manufacturing processes including metal molding, forming, joining, and machining, complex assembly
  • Understands machining requirements and capabilities specific for tool construction.
  • Able to evaluate designs for manufacture and make specific design recommendations when necessary
  • Proficient with 2D and 3D design CAD environments (Inventor, NX preferred)
  • Experience with engineering analysis tools (MoldFlow, Python, MatLab, FEA and CFD tools, etc).
  • Experience with Elastomer Molding, Elastomer Extrusion, Injection Molding, Elastomer Stamping and cutting.

Competitive Compensation
  • Pay Range: $70890 to $117300 annually
  • Participation in Annual Incentive Program
