Description ABOUT THIS ROLE As a Design Engineer, you will help turn design intent into high-fidelity product experiences, raising the quality of what ultimately ships to customers.
This role is centered on craft, product thinking, and AI-assisted creation. You will go beyond static designs to explore how experiences actually feel through functional prototypes, micro-interactions, animation, haptics, transitions, states, and visual polish.
You are not expected to be a Front-End Engineer or write production code. Instead, you will use AI-assisted tools and modern prototyping workflows to bring ideas to life quickly, while having enough technical understanding to work effectively with Engineering and understand real product constraints.
You will work closely with Product Designers, Engineers, and Product Managers to continuously push experiences from good to exceptional.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES - Turn design intent into high-fidelity product experiences, maintaining a high bar from concept through implementation.
- Own the final layer of craft: micro-interactions, animation, haptics, transitions, states, and visual polish.
- Identify and improve details across spacing, typography, hierarchy, behavior, feedback, and interaction patterns.
- Use AI-assisted prototyping and vibe coding workflows to rapidly turn ideas into functional experiences.
- Explore multiple solutions quickly, using AI to prototype, test, iterate, and communicate ideas beyond static Figma screens.
- Partner closely with Engineering throughout implementation to ensure the shipped experience reflects the original design intent.
- Proactively identify gaps during execution and propose solutions rather than waiting for every detail to be fully defined.
- Understand the customer problem, product objective, and expected impact behind what you are designing.
- Use product data and customer insights to inform decisions and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Contribute to design systems, interaction patterns, and new ways of working that improve product quality and accelerate the Design team.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS - Strong background in Product Design, with an exceptional eye for interaction, visual craft, and detail.
- Strong proficiency in Figma and modern prototyping workflows.
- Fluency with AI-assisted design and development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, Figma Make, v0, or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of how to work effectively with AI - including prompting, context management, iteration, evaluating output, and knowing when to intervene or change direction.
- Ability to create functional prototypes without relying on traditional front-end development skills.
- Strong understanding of interaction design, motion, micro-interactions, and how digital products should feel in use.
- Strong product thinking, connecting customer needs with business goals and expected outcomes.
- Enough understanding of development and platform constraints to collaborate effectively with Engineers and make realistic design decisions.
- High level of ownership and comfort making design decisions when the solution is not completely defined.
- Portfolio demonstrating exceptional product craft, thoughtful interactions, and shipped digital experiences.
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience in fintech, payments, remittance, or complex digital products.
- Experience designing highly polished native mobile experiences, including motion and haptics.
- Experience using product analytics tools such as Amplitude.
- Experience contributing to design systems or creating reusable interaction patterns.
- Experience experimenting with emerging AI, agentic, prototyping, and design-to-product workflows.

XE offers a competitive salary and benefits package. The reasonable estimated pay for this (Salary Exempt or Non-exempt hourly rate) role ranges from ($110,000USD to $130,000USD). Actual compensation is based upon factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.
