Overview

Responsibilities

An Average Day: As the Deputy Program Manager, you will organize, direct, and coordinate the planning, oversight, and execution ofa complex Department of Defense IT and cybersecurity services program in support of the Program Manager. Depending on program needs, you may be responsible for both project- and program-level activities. In this role, you will collaborate directly with customers, subcontractors, and internal teams to help ensure successful program execution. Leveraging your experience with project management disciplines, PMO processes, and technical program execution, you will manage day-to-day activities supporting this contract from our Crystal City office and serve as the alternate to the Program Manager as assigned.You will oversee team workload based on customer priorities and assignments, assess progress, adjust direction as needed, and communicate expected outcomes and actions for each request.

  • Oversee the daily management of tasks, projects, and program-level operations, ensuring assigned work is completed accurately and in accordance with program and contract requirements.
  • Manage program scope, deliverables, milestones, and task execution to support successful performance within established schedules and budget constraints.
  • Lead AMERICAN SYSTEMS and subcontractor personnel in executing program activities, managing team workload in alignment with customer priorities and assignments.
  • Provide team leadership through staffing support, project planning, financial oversight, and review of work products to ensure quality and performance.
  • Lead or coordinate customer-facing status meetings, reviews, and working groups, including tracking decisions, commitments, and follow-up actions.
  • Measure and monitor overall program performance using established plans, metrics, and professional judgment.
  • Manage program documentation, CDRLs, SOPs, action tracking, and financial/reporting requirements, ensuring deliverables are reviewed and submitted in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Prepare and submit required reports, briefings, presentations, and written and oral status updates to stakeholders.
  • Maintain and strengthen client relationships.
  • Ensure workforce training and certifications are maintained to support program success and compliance.
  • Support business development and proposal efforts across the directorate.
  • Support labor accountability, timekeeping compliance, and related approval workflows in accordance with company policy and contract requirements.
  • Operate effectively in a technically complex IT and cybersecurity services environment, coordinating with engineering, cybersecurity, architecture, PMO, and operations teams to drive delivery outcomes.
Qualifications
  • As a requirement of this position, all candidates must be a U.S. Citizen. In accordance with 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(2)(C).
  • Must havean active Secretclearancewith the ability to obtain aTop Secret with SCI eligibility or have an active Top Secret with SCI eligibility.
  • Bachelor27s degree from an accredited college or university (Management or Business field preferred).
  • At least six (6) years of management experience in administration, acquisition, and program management.
  • Demonstrated relevant management experience with DoW IT Program Management operating in a multi-level classification environment or on contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of Federal, Department of War, and Department of the Navy acquisition practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience briefing executive-level leadership.
  • Strong team player with a goal-oriented mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to delegate appropriately, solve problems, and translate policies into routine daily activities.
  • Knowledge of the technology industry and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and project management toolsets, including MS Project, Jira/Confluence, and Azure DevOps.
  • Must be available to the customer during core hours of 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
  • Must be able to travel to various Company locations and/or Customer sites across the United States for meetings and onsite visits, as needed by the Company/Customer. Expected out-of-area travel: 25 60%.
Pay Transparency StatementAMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $160,000.00/Yr. - USD $225,000/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
