Posting Summary The Rutgers School of Public Health is seeking a Deputy Lab Manager for its
Center for Public Health Workforce Development located in Somerset, NJ. The Deputy Lab Manager position is responsible for developing comprehensive safety and health curricula, managing hands-on training for skilled safety training including excavation and trenching, confined space, scaffolding safety and rigging. This position will require travel to various locations throughout the region to deliver high-quality training to participants along with research and strong writing skills demonstrated by accepted peer-reviewed authorship and or co-authorship.
Duties include:
- Responsible for designing, researching, developing, validating, and continuously maintaining high-quality, evidence-based occupational safety and health curricula, instructional materials, technical publications, and educational resources that meet OSHA standards, support grant-funded initiatives, and addresses the evolving needs of construction, general industry, and emerging workplace hazards.
- Facilitates dynamic in-person and, where applicable, remote training sessions. Travels throughout the designated region to deliver workshops, seminars, and technical training to diverse workforce populations.
- Actively oversees the lifecycle of grant-funded initiatives, including the preparation of proposals, tracking of project milestones, and fulfillment of all grant-related reporting requirements to ensure programmatic success and compliance.
- Conducts and leads research development, authorship, and review grant proposals, technical reports, peer-reviewed publications, training materials, and other professional documents supporting occupational safety and health initiatives

Qualifications
Minimum Education and ExperienceCertifications/LicensesRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Bachelor's degree required.
- Four (4) years of experience in construction safety management or general industry safety management experience, or other relevant experience required.
- Must have the necessary qualifications to be an OSHA Training Institute Education Center (OTIEC) Instructor.
- Demonstrated success in obtaining or managing grant-funded projects and specialized expertise directly related to the program, research, or field of practice.
Preferred Qualifications - Five (5) to seven (7) years of proven high-level standards training OSHA authorized trainers and candidates in Construction and General Industry
- Practical application of OSHA standards within the Construction Industry and General Safety and health management experience overseeing construction or general industry projects,
