Position descriptionDepartment of Anesthesia - Pain Psychologist The UCSF Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Care seeks a pain psychologist to join our faculty practice. This full-time faculty position is available at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor.
Pain psychology faculty will work at the UCSF Center for Pain Medicine, which operates under the auspices of the Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Care, Division of Pain Medicine.
The idea candidate will have the following characteristics
- Passion about caring for patients with complex chronic pain
- Experience working in multi-disciplinary environment
- Interest in working in an educational environment, with physician and non-physician trainees as part of the care team
- Record of scholarship, such as demonstrated by published research, and interest in advancing the academic field of pain psychology
- Interest in developing innovative new clinical care models
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to intake evaluations, assessments on appropriateness for neuromodulation, individual psychotherapy, and group psychotherapy for patients with pain.
Psychologists experienced in the treatment of adolescents and young adults with chronic pain are also encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate must meet all the following qualifications by time of hire:
- Doctoral degree (or equivalent) in Psychology or related field.
- Completion of postdoctoral training in health psychology, with a preference for an APA-accredited clinical fellowship in pain psychology.
- Licensed to practice in California.

The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5 . The minimum base salary range for this position is $121,900 - $319,800. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan ( https://ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/_files/apm/apm-670.pdf ) which provides for eligibility for additional compensation. The total negotiated salary for this position will include the base salary plus the negotiated component, determined at the time of offer.
