Hours

I. Purpose of Position

To provide dental services to the patients of the Access Community Health Centers dental clinic in Dodgeville.

II. Essential Job Functions/Duties

1. Provide diagnostic, therapeutic and emergency dental services to patients of Access Community Health Centers dental clinic in compliance with Wisconsin state regulations.

  • Review medical history at every visit
  • Chart all pathology and report it to the dentist
  • Develop a written treatment plan and explain all options to patient
  • Has informed consent discussion with patient before starting treatment; both dentist and patient (or guardian) must sign consent form
  • Refer to specialist when needed
  • Enter and sign all treatment provided on the progress notes

2. Supervise dental staff such as assistants and hygienists chair side and in radiology or sterilization procedures in accordance with skills and within the limits of state law.
  • Instruct assigned procedures as needed
  • Delegate expanded duties in accordance with skill and within the limits of state law
  • Participate in evaluations of staff members

3. Assure patient education for all treatment phases.
  • Refer patients to the dental hygienist
  • Discuss home care status and techniques with patients when needed
  • Incorporates parents into education regime for children whenever possible
  • Explain need for maintenance of oral hygiene conditions as a priority to prosthodontic treatment

Required Qualifications:

  • Eligible for State of Wisconsin license to practice dentistry
  • Graduate of an accredited dental school in the United States

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum of two years experience in practice
  • Has practiced dentistry within the past one year in a clinical setting
  • Current CPR certification
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English

This position works with minimal supervision from the dental director.
