About the Role

Hello, Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teachers! Ampersand Therapy is hiring a full-time Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher for a school setting in Lebanon, TN. In this role, you'll play a critical part in student success by empowering students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing through specialized instruction, collaboration, and support that drives academic success, communication growth, and independence.

What You'll Do
  • Provide direct and consultative instructional services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Conduct assessments and use data to guide instructional decisions.
  • Support development of communication skills, including spoken language, sign language, and/or total communication approaches.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt curriculum and instructional strategies.
  • Work with related service providers (e.g., audiologists, speech-language pathologists).
  • Provide training and support to staff regarding hearing loss and classroom accommodations.
  • Monitor and maintain assistive listening devices and hearing technology.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with IDEA and district policies.
  • All other duties as assigned.


What We're Looking For
  • Active (or eligible) Tennessee educator license with a Special Education: Hearing PreK-12 endorsement
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Knowledge of instructional strategies and accommodations for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students preferred, not required
