Description: Columbia Technology Partners is seeking a Database Engineer 3 to provide technical expertise in database design, development, implementation, and administration for complex mission-focused systems. In this role, you will support the full database lifecycle, from requirements analysis and architecture design through implementation, testing, and deployment. You will develop scalable database solutions, optimize data flow and storage, and help ensure systems meet performance, security, and operational requirements. The ideal candidate is experienced in designing and managing enterprise database environments, developing data-driven solutions, and working within modern cloud-based architectures.
Key Responsibilities: - Design, develop, implement, and maintain database solutions supporting mission and enterprise systems.
- Develop database schemas, structures, queries, scripts, macros, and data workflows to meet system and mission requirements.
- Create and maintain database parser software and database loading applications to support data ingestion and processing.
- Analyze existing database environments and recommend improvements for performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
- Lead the design and development of database architectures that balance data volume, user demand, response times, security requirements, retention policies, and system distribution.
- Translate business and technical requirements into efficient database structures and data management solutions.
- Support and direct database administration, data flow analysis, and database optimization efforts.
- Guide the development of complex database solutions utilizing relational databases, ODBC connectivity, and cloud-based storage and retrieval technologies.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university.
- Ten (10) years of experience as a Database Engineer supporting programs of similar scope, type, and complexity.
- Five (5) years of additional Database Engineer experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
- Experience supporting database design, development, implementation, and administration in enterprise environments.
Desired Skills: - Experience with relational database design, data modeling, and database architecture.
- Strong SQL development skills, including complex queries, scripting, stored procedures, and database automation.
- Experience with database performance tuning, optimization, and capacity planning.
- Knowledge of cloud-based database technologies and modern data storage and retrieval methodologies.
- Familiarity with ETL processes, data integration, and large-scale data management.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with software developers, systems engineers, and stakeholders throughout the system lifecycle.
