Job DescriptionThe
Database Administrator (SQL Server DBA) will design, implement, and maintain moderately complex databases in support of mission-critical operations. This position involves database administration, maintaining database dictionaries, and supporting the integration of systems through database design.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience administering on-premises Microsoft SQL Server environments, monitoring database performance, implementing backup and recovery strategies, and managing database security. The candidate will also support database availability, troubleshoot issues, automate routine tasks, and collaborate with other teams on database schema design and optimization.
Position Responsibilities- Install, configure, and maintain on-premises Microsoft SQL Server instances.
- Monitor database performance and tune queries, indexes, and configurations.
- Implement and manage SQL Server backup and recovery strategies.
- Apply patches, updates, and service packs to SQL Server environments.
- Manage database security, roles, and permissions.
- Support high-availability solutions, including Always On, clustering, and replication.
- Perform regular audits and health checks on SQL Server environments.
- Automate routine database administration tasks using PowerShell or SQL Server Agent jobs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues.
- Collaborate with other teams on database schema design and optimization.
- Document database architecture, processes, and procedures.
- Perform data tagging and classification.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, with at least 5 years of experience; alternatively, an Associate degree with 7+ years of experience.
- 5+ years of experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) or in a similar role.
- Strong understanding of database architecture and administration.
- Proficiency in T-SQL and PowerShell scripting.
- CompTIA Security+ certification is required.
- Microsoft certifications, such as MCSA, MCSE, or Azure Database Administrator Associate, are a plus.
- DoD Secret Security Clearance is required.
