Standard Job DescriptionThe Data Security Administrator is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining security controls for both manual and automated systems. This role protects corporate systems from unauthorized disclosure, loss, or modification, ensuring compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) security standards and internal policies.
Key ResponsibilitiesImplement and maintain security hardening measures per DoD STIGs and industry best practices.
Analyze results, prioritize remediation, and verify patch installation on Linux and Windows hosts.
Configure and maintain
Splunk dashboards and alerts for security events.
Participate in incident investigations, evidence collection, and root-cause analysis.
Ensure all systems meet DoD STIG requirements and maintain up-to-date compliance records.
Produce and update security policies, procedures, and configuration baselines.
Work with system owners, network engineers, and senior leadership to align security initiatives with business objectives.
Provide guidance on security best practices and emerging threats.
Maintain Security tools with patching, updates, and security compliant configurations.
Evaluate new security technologies and recommend enhancements to the existing security posture.
Conduct periodic security scanning and configuration analyses.
Basic QualificationsSecurity ClearanceActive
SECRET clearance with the ability to obtain
TS/SCI.
Experience3+ years of system administration experience on
RHEL 7, 8, 9 and
Windows Server 2019/2025.
Security Tool ProficiencyHands-on experience with at least (2) of the following:
(HBSS, Nessus, SCAP, Splunk, and Ansible.)DoD STIG KnowledgeDirect experience applying DoD
Security Technical Implementation Guides to Linux and Windows platforms.
Patch ManagementProven ability to patch, update, and harden both Linux and Windows machines and security tools.
EducationBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field
or equivalent work experience in lieu of a degree.
Desired Skills- Experience with Evaluate STIG and STIG Manager
- Deep understanding of security concepts across multiple disciplines and ability to translate them into practical solutions.
- Demonstrated track record of solving complex security problems with innovative, scalable approaches.
- Experience working autonomously under general direction, with periodic reviews at critical milestones.
- Ability to influence long-range security strategy and engage senior personnel on high-impact initiatives.
- Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC), CISSP, or DoD-specific certifications.
- Familiarity with automated configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
Pay InformationFull-Time Salary Range: $95900.00 - $178100.00
