Data Scientist

Job Description

As the Data Scientist for the Elite Forces Pilot Team, you will analyze integrated sensor, assessment, and medical data to identify evidence-based metrics that inform leader decisions related to brain health, readiness, and human performance. You will translate complex data into defensible analyses, decision-support dashboards, and recurring reporting products for military stakeholders. Your work will help illuminate meaningful trends, support operational understanding, and improve how leaders assess warfighter health and performance.

You are the analytical lead responsible for converting curated data into decision-quality information. By applying sound analytic methods and communicating findings clearly, you will help the team move from raw information to actionable insight in support of special operations forces and mission readiness.

Key Objectives
• Develop and validate meaningful metrics, indicators, and analytic methods for human performance, brain health, and operational readiness.
• Conduct exploratory, descriptive, inferential, and longitudinal analyses across multi-source datasets.
• Produce dashboards, reporting, and leader decision-support products using approved analytic and BI tools.
• Communicate findings, assumptions, limitations, and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Define analytic questions with stakeholders and translate them into measurable variables, cohorts, comparison groups, and reporting logic.
• Analyze wearable, biometric, assessment, and medical data to identify trends, relationships, patterns, and performance indicators.
• Develop recurring metrics, scorecards, dashboards, and reports for leaders using approved BI and visualization tools.
• Apply appropriate statistical and analytic methods to support evidence-based conclusions and defensible interpretation.
• Document methodologies, assumptions, limitations, and interpretation guidance so results are reproducible and decision-useful.
• Partner with the Data Engineer to refine data requirements, metric definitions, and data quality expectations.
• Present findings in concise written, visual, and verbal formats suitable for military leaders and operational stakeholders.
• Support continuous improvement of analytic products by incorporating stakeholder feedback and evolving mission requirements.

Qualifications and Experience
• Required Education & Experience: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Applied Mathematics, or a related field, with 3+ years of experience conducting applied analysis on operational, healthcare, readiness, or human performance data.
• Strong skills in Python and SQL.
• Experience with statistical analysis, metric development, data visualization, and analytic reporting.
• Experience using BI and reporting tools such as Power BI or similar platforms.
• Ability to work with longitudinal, time-series, event-based, and multi-source datasets.
• Ability to communicate findings effectively through dashboards, written reports, and leadership briefings.
• Collaborative Mindset: Proven ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders to define requirements, interpret findings, and improve analytic products.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience in military health, special operations, brain health analytics, human performance optimization, or related mission-focused analytic environments is highly desirable.
