OverviewDecisionPointseeks a Data Scientist (Analytics) to transform enterprise operational, monitoring, and performance data into actionable insights within a large federal and DoD-aligned IT mission environment. This role produces executive-level visualizations, summaries, analytical narratives, heatmaps, and trend analyses that enable informed decision making across leadership, engineering teams, and mission stakeholders.
The Data Scientist (Analytics) develops robust analytical models, evaluates service performance,identifiesoperational trends, and produces clear, consumable reporting that enhances situational awareness across the enterprise.

Duties & Responsibilities
The Data Scientist (Analytics) will:
- Transform monitoring, KPI, and operational data into visually rich dashboards, heatmaps, and executive summaries.
- Conduct trend analyses, anomaly detection, forecasting, and performance measurement across IT operations.
- Produce narrative insights that contextualize data findings for leadership decision support.
- Build standardized reporting artifacts for monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc leadership deliverables.
- Integrate data from multiple systems including monitoring tools, ticketing systems, incident logs, and operational platforms.
- Ensure analytical outputs areaccurate, repeatable, and aligned with federal reporting expectations.
- Develop templates and reusable visualization patterns for recurring reports.
- Collaborate with engineering, service desk, cybersecurity, and PMO teams to capture relevant data inputs.
- Maintain documentation for analytics logic, data definitions, and workflow processes.
- Support the evolution of enterprise data visualization and analytics maturity.
Qualifications
Clearance Requirement
Must hold an active Secret clearance, supported by a Tier 3 background investigation.
Education (Required)
Bachelor27s degree in Communications, Data Visualization, Analytics, ora relateddiscipline.
Experience (Required)
- Minimum7 yearsof experience in data visualization, analytics, data science, or performance reporting.
- Experience producing executive-ready dashboards, heatmaps, trend reports, and analytical narratives.
- Experience translating complex datasets into interpretable visual and written insights.
- Experience integrating data from monitoring platforms, incident/ticketing tools, or IT operational systems.
Technical Knowledge (Required)
- Proficiencywith data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, Grafana, or equivalents).
- Strong understanding of KPI modeling, trend analysis, and data transformation.
- Ability to structure analytical findings into clear written narratives and presentations.
- Experience working with SQL, data modeling, or ETL workflows.
Technical Knowledge (Preferred)
- Familiaritywith scripting languages for data processing (Python, R, etc.).
- Knowledge of IT operational metrics, service desk KPIs, ormonitoringsystem data.
- Experience within federal, DoD, or enterprise-level reporting environments.
