Purpose and Impact:

Are you interested in using your skills to help shape the Cyber, Security, & Intel space?  If so, look no further. Amentum is seeking a Data Center Technician to join our team of passionate individuals at Fort Meade, MD. In this role you will support challenging, mission-critical projects that make a direct impact on the Nation’s security and intelligence mission.

In support of DISA, Amentum’s Intel and Cyber Division is expanding a proven team of highly skilled engineers and architects to support a program that provides critical IT capabilities to the Department of Defense. This team is committed to engineering, assembling, integrating, deploying, and sustaining an innovative IT enterprise solution.

Work Schedule:  8 Hours per day, Monday thru Friday

Essential Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities of the Data Center Technician include but are not limited to the following:

  • Ensure operational availability and reliability of critical systems and infrastructure
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for both internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, software developers, vendors, and contractors
  • Install, deploy, and configure racks, enterprise IT equipment, and solution suites ensuring high availability (HA) and environmental compliancy
  • Perform server rack installations, hardware break-fix on various components, troubleshoot network issues, and respond to operational incidents that impact service availability
  • Conduct routine network, server hardware, and operating system repairs to contribute to the overall availability of services
  • Perform on-call duties and participate in scheduled maintenance and change management activities
  • Perform site surveys to determine requirements feasibility of government facilities for hosting enterprise IT solutions
  • Assist with the estimate of installation design costs including equipment, labor, materials, fees, and other related costs
  • Ensure the installation of IT equipment and infrastructure complies with required guidelines, codes, instructions, and local site tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs)
  • Perform preventive maintenance (PM), fault isolation, root cause analysis, and repair of facility and rack-level events within established Service Level Agreements (SLA)s
  • Work with Project Managers, Site Managers, and Cross-Functional Team Leads to complete site deployments and authorized service interruptions (ASIs)
  • Ensure the accuracy of As-Built drawings to include Flow Diagrams, Cut-Sheets, Rack Elevations, Structural, Electrical/Power, and HVAC

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

  • Employee will work in a SCIF on a daily basis.
  • Employee may also be required to work in a datacenter environment for specified periods of time.

Minimum Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

  • Seven (7) years installing and documenting IT equipment and infrastructure in communication facilities and data centers
  • Five (5) years installing and maintaining IP networks (e.g., Cisco, Juniper), Servers/Systems (e.g., Windows, Linux, VMware, cloud), and/or Unified Capabilities (e.g., Cisco UC, MS Teams, VoIP, video conferencing)
  • Three (3) years operation and maintenance of communication facilities or data centers including hardware, IT infrastructure, & critical facilities
  • Experience and in-depth technical knowledge of server, network, and rack-level infrastructure and installation
  • Skilled at generating and revising technical design documentation using Visio or other CAD type programs
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office products
  • Experience planning, coordinating, and performing IT equipment installation projects
  • Can support non-standard hours, including an on-call rotation and availability during deployment surges and maintenance windows
  • Lifts and moves material up to 40 pounds, works in cramped and/or elevated locations, ascends and descends ladders, stairs, and gangways safely and without limitation
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.

Security Clearance Required:

  • Must have active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility

Minimum Education:

  • Associate’s Degree in IT or equivalent, related technical certification, or professional or military experience in a related field.

Minimum Years of Experience:

  • Seven (7) years installing and documenting IT equipment and infrastructure in communication facilities and data centers
  • Five (5) years installing and maintaining IP networks (e.g., Cisco, Juniper), Servers/Systems (e.g., Windows, Linux, VMware, cloud), and/or Unified Capabilities (e.g., Cisco UC, MS Teams, VoIP, video conferencing)
  • Three (3) years operation and maintenance of communication facilities or data centers including hardware, IT infrastructure, & critical facilities

Required Certification: (One of the following)

  • CompTIA Network+
  • Data Center Certified Associate (DCCA)
  • Certified Data Center Professional (CDCP)
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

  • Experience with ICD-705 SCIF construction
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certification
  • Project management skills and strong organizational and time management skills including the ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure

Compensation Details:

$130,000 - $170,000
