Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented, well-organized individual for the position of Business Analyst. The Analyst will be part of the project management team in a highly visible position supporting strategic initiatives across all areas of the firm. This includes data sourcing, support, and management for a broad range of applications, including but not limited to those for portfolio accounting, performance measurement, marketing and client reporting.
The position requires a high level of direct interaction and collaboration with end users, excellent analytical and communication skills, and outstanding financial domain knowledge. The Analyst must comprehend and organize a collection of business requirements and communicate those requirements to application developers. Negotiate technical and non-technical solutions that both satisfy the business user and conform to the technical architecture.
Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and manage data strategies to support various business units
• Data management tasks: data mining, data mapping, data modeling
• Define processes, models, use cases, transition plans for current and future state capabilities
• Work collaboratively with IT staff and support middle and back office functions
Qualifications:
• Candidates should have 4-7 years of experience working as an IT business systems analyst in the financial services industry
• Prior knowledge of financial software packages for trading, portfolio accounting, performance measurement, marketing and client reporting
• Strong technical background in data integration in the financial services industry
• Have a solid understanding of system development methodologies and techniques, and an excellent grasp of data management concepts and principles
• Conduct system requirements analysis at the code and data level
• Experience with SQL Server Business Intelligence tools: SQL, Reporting Services, Integration Services
• Direct responsibility for writing structured business requirements, functional specifications, test plans, test cases, user acceptance testing plans
• Research, track and communicate business issues and software defects related to projects and level two applications support
• Solid MS Visio and MS Office application skills
• Strong analytic and communication skills
