Key job responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive analysis of tax reporting data across multiple jurisdictions, identifying data quality issues and recommending solutions to improve accuracy and reliability
- Design and contribute to the implementation of scalable tax technology solutions that enhance our reporting and compliance capabilities
- Partner with tax and business teams to understand process challenges, then translate those needs into functional requirements for technical development and system improvements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including tax specialists, business partners, and engineers to deliver integrated solutions that drive efficiency
- Develop and maintain metrics that measure the impact and value of tax data initiatives, providing visibility into process improvements and system performance
A day in the life
As a Data Analyst focused on State and Local Tax compliance, you'll dive into tax reporting data to uncover insights that drive better decision-making across our organization. You might start your day analyzing data quality issues in a specific tax jurisdiction, then collaborate with our tax and engineering teams to define requirements for a new reporting feature. You'll work with colleagues to understand their pain points in current processes, then translate those insights into data-driven solutions. Your work bridges the gap between our tax experts and our technical teams, ensuring everyone has the information they need to do their best work. You'll also have opportunities to develop new metrics that help us measure the effectiveness of our tax data initiatives.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
- 5+ years of Excel (including VBA, pivot tables, array functions, power pivots, etc.) and data visualization tools such as Tableau experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Experience defining requirements and using data and metrics to draw business insights
- Experience making business recommendations and influencing stakeholders
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with SQL
- Experience in business or financial analysis
- Experience with written and verbal communication and presentation
The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
